$40 million is rediculous... period. he could have showna lot more class by playing it down.

nope, Washington DC is expected to pay as much as 12 million dollars for police overtime, security, and other things, and the administration will not reimburse municipal coffers.

Frankly the security issue would be the responsibility of the DC Police anyhow. The cost would be fairly similar no matter what. It IS a recurring situation. FWIW the innauguration is a rather mandatory ceremony, just deal with it. This is a very small issue.

Let him and his croonies enjoy a wonderful party while his troops are fighting a war and dying and getting wounded. Let them enjoy their $40M celebration while many troops live off food stamps and need second job to support their families.

This show of bad form really doesn't surprise me, very typical of this administration.

One good thing about this innauguration party, thank God it will be his last!

Which war was it that soldiers threw a $40M party? The answer escapes me. Maybe you can help jog my memory.

Anyways, the issue is not that a $40M party is being thrown to mark Bush's innauguration. The issue is that it is being done during war and a time when areas of the world have been devastated by disaster. This money could go to more important issues donated by these companies and individual donors.

Even though hardcore Republican supporters wont admit it, if this would be a Democrat canidate throwing these parties during this troubled time you would be questioning the same action.

I am neither Dem or Rep, but I am concerned about the way this country has been led in the last 10 to 15 years.
