Do the 110 rockets have proxy fuses or just a timer?

I believe its a timer like the 190's, same rockets as well I think.

US AA guns had proximity fused shells in WW2

In real life I believe they had a proximity fuse and a timer, I think in AH they are just on a timer though.

They are fun to use against bombers, but they are so hard to hit with they overall they are a liability in my opinion.

Well, I have 1 kill and 1 assist using them on a HO pass on B17s. Just did not know if I hit the target, timed it right or if it was th eproxy fuse. Does anyone know what the timer is set to?

Oh, yes. It was a US invention, issued to ships and ground-based antiaircraft artillery in 1944. Caused incredible devastation among the kamikazes. The prox fuse is what we have in our 5 inch ship guns, btw.

Tests done by myself and some others a while back have shown the following:

- With 2 targets flying the same speed, the rockets will fly approx. 1.3 to 1.4k forward. That's assuming no closure rate.

- In AH we do NOT have the upward angle on the tubes. In real life they had an arc so they fell about level. In AH they shoot level and fall lots. They WILL fall about 500 feet once they have traveled 1.3-1.4k. Aim HIGH. Not DEAD-ON.

- It is much harder to judge HO ranges. Some have said 2k. Some 3k! It depends on closure rate. If you're going 400+ I'd aim for 3k. Fire 1, wait, fire 1, wait, fire 1, wait, fire last. So that between 3k and 2.5k you have fired all of them. Using the Fw190 (only 2 rockets) fire one, wait a bit longer, then fire second. You only have half as many to shoot.

No, he means the 5 inch rockets..

Coincidentally, I've got more A2A kills with the 5 inch rockets (1) then I've ever gotten with the LW rockets in the MA.

I did grab a crew of guys a while back, we spent a few hours lobbing rockets at bombers in the DA. In a tail chase, d1.4 is about the max range, then they blow up. Unless you actually hit a bomber, you won't kill one. However, if you DO hit a bomber, I've seen the whole formation blow up from 1 rocket hit.

I fired the 5 inch rocket at about 1500 yards on a "head on"... actually hit the guy and knocked his wing off. I was pleasantly surprised (ok, ok, I laughed like a friggin hyena.. but thats just cause I'd never seen it before).
