Boys arrested for stick figure drawings

Quote
Two boys were arrested for making pencil-and-crayon stick figure drawings depicting a 10-year-old classmate being stabbed and hung, police said. The children, charged with a felony, were taken from school in handcuffs.

There may be more to the story than CNN is putting up, but this seems like a SERIOUS overreaction on the part of the legal system. IMO.

Without reading the article, I'm betting that the phrase 'zero tolerance' shows up.  That concept causes far more problems then it 'solves'.

well in our country you can not be arested if you are not 15 years  of age.

If you commit some crime, you parents are responsible for your action. If child commit some serious child, it can be taken from family and put into special (like a prison) institution for children.  At age of 18 child is released and free. [ if child have no mental problems.]

I'd imagine that this is the result of a no tollerance policy on the part of the school district. Once the situation is discovered the principal likely had no recourse other than to call the Police about it. With this type of policy in place they would be adamant about filing a complaint with the Police who would have no choice about responding to the complaint.

There is insufficient data in the article to know for sure but I'd bet on this as the scenario as what happened.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

What raised my eyebrows was the "charged with a felony" part.

Is there any common sense left anywhere in our schools?

I'd bet money you are 100% right.

the truly messed up part is the principle had no choice but to do it, the cops had no choice but to pick the kid up and charge him, and likely some prosecutor with political dreams in his future won't want to appear soft on crime (especially on the subject of 'violence in schools') so he'll have to prosecute.

like a big game of chicken with this kids future in the balance.  everybody knows this is stupid but no-one wants to go on record as the one who put a stop to it.
