Funny, when I was 12 back around 1969 and my family had just moved back to the US from Japan, I saw my first McDonalds. At that time the big mac, fries, large soda, and milk shake were the same size as todays super sized. We weren't obese back then. Also our parents threw us out of the house to go play baseball, football, shoot at each other with BB rifles from dirt forts, ride our bycicles, whatever kids do out side.......
Oh I forget, we didn't sit on our big tards then and play game box or what ever. And our parents didnt obsess that some pervert was hiding under the back porch waiting to eat us. Or weren't terrified our neighbor had guns in the house, or they would get suied if their kid played with yours. When was the last time any of you saw 18 kids alone playing pickup baseball in a empty lot or at the local park? I walk 3 miles a day getting to and from public transportation. The first year I worked at my current company I ate a supersized big mac meal every work day for lunch because a McDonalds is in our cafeteria. I have not put on any weight.
Follow the money guys.
This suit is being patterened after the tobbaco industry suit. No state that has received payouts from that suit has used the money for other than paying off their budget debts or funding newer and more rediculous programs unrelated to smoking. The settelement stated a portion of the money was to be used for antismoking advertising/ programs for children, and the rest to offset the supposed increased state health care costs due to smokers.
