These manure pile problems exist in america because our green parties suceeded in making it illegal to use the manure as fuel in power plants. The byproducts of burning manure are less toxic to the environment than coal. On the other hand, piles of manure sitting around too long pollute the water table and can cause diasease outbreaks.
