Skuzzy Please Help
« on: February 06, 2005, 06:16:05 PM »
Roy,

I have a nasty trojan or virus!  I can't delete it ,only quarrantine it.   McAfee finds it but after I quarrantine it it still pops up.

It is called wivwpej.exe    exactly what it is I'm not sure but it says downloader on McAfee.

I also have something called calc.exe and another called  packager.exe.      I cannot remove any of the three.

Any tips you may have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Gunner

safe mode is your friend

also clean out all temp files ,cookies, ect ...

beshure you write down all the baddies file names so you can do a file search for them afterwards ..

you can run adaware , your av ,and hijack this,     in safe mode also   or anyother programs you have for killing this.  also trend micro's  website has a viropedia for looking this junk up wuth removal instructions ... good luck

Calc.exe and Packager.exe are windows programs.  Calc is the windows calculator and packager is ............... something else, I havent used it in a long time dont remember what it does actually.  Unless someone made viruses with the same names and overwrote your originals (or just put them in different locations), these are harmless.

As for the other one, like Roscoroo said.  Boot in safe mode and delete it.
