what do you want from the new film viewer?
« on: February 10, 2005, 09:37:45 AM »
personally im hoping for full sound recording and playback.

a flyby view option.

acurate control surface movement recording.

an option to padlock view your enemy without the need for turning icons on.

just a few things for consideration.

who else has suggestions?
And I don't know much, but I do know this. With a golden heart comes a rebel fist.

Something that makes your aircraft not look like an unmoving overlay on your monitor screen in external view.

God mode

A way of manipulating views without the choppy number key pad or scroll bar junk.

A view system that was attached to the joystick's hatswitch so when "ignore recorded views" is selected you can move views with hat switch.

Basicly add way more view options than we currently have.

A special filter that makes it look like I shoot evryone down, maybe call it the Leviathin filter or sumptin.

but that part of me died.

I'd like to be able to fast forward by sliding the bar without crashing the viewer.

Thats a very good idea.

Some kind of Noise setting for the Camera where it rattles and shakes.

Mechanic has some good ideas too.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Absolutely.  The ability to position the camera anywhere you want, perhaps with the option to have it lock onto a plane as well.

Accurate use of sounds.  My main complaint is the fact that it always sounds like your engine is at idle.

I think that the new film viewer should have a "virtual shane" that will ridicule your every move and mock you for every kills or death.

-I like the idea of god mode, similar to CM-Eye mode, but with the addition of various movement filters to smooth the joystick/mouse inputs.  I envision 'chasing' a few 190s as they dart in and out of a large formation of bombers.  I saw this in a film from another game (warbirds?) and absolutely loved it... gives a great effect :)

-Not sure if this is feasable, but a Static Camera mode would be nice for capturing the perfect view... floating above a factory to see the effect of carpet bombing, fly-by's, etc...

-An external camera that can be panned using only the mouse (ala FB/AEP/PF).  It's just so easy to use. :)

i imagine something like this:

where a little square with an animated image in it shows what is going on.

i know the JS setup shows those sine waveforms ar whatever, but for a layman they are too hard to distinguish well and learn from.

for the throttle you could put like a stero meter looking thing or something.

HiTech please please consider this.... it would help training IMMENSLY for those of us who either can not verbalize manuevers, dont understand the terminology others use, or people who speak different languages.
I don't know what to put here yet.

need to add:

ability to stop the replay of VOX transmissions so when you fast forward, or play at a high speed you dont have to wait for the VOX to catch up in time.
