at first... i thought, nice pic of a spit... then i noticed the clipped wings and had to go have a change of clothes.

We need clipped-wing Spitfires. We also need the Spitfire F Mk.XIVe, which should be perked (in effect making the 14 we already have unperked).

Yes - thanks for the comment. I took this particular shot (along with the shot of the P47 which I posted in error in the Films & Screenshots BBS) at  the Goodwood Revival last year.

I have lots of them on my website (see link below), but AH subscribers don't have to buy them, just let me know which ones you want copies of and I will forward them to you.

We have the Spitfire F.Mk XIVe.  You can take the Mk 14 as a Spitfire F.Mk XIV with a universal wing or as a Spitfire F.Mk XIVe.

You may be thinking of the Spitfire FR.Mk XIVe which had the bubble canopy and frequently sported the hideous clipped wings.  Ugly airplane.

in the warbirds, what is photo 3?

2 planes, sorry but i am terrible at plane identification.

also, you don't happen to have a pic of a 190 in flight do you?

i work for Xerox and have a way of making a 24x36 print for myself laminated hehehehehe

btw can i get a high res of that spit one too?

The two aircraft are Grumman F7F-3P Tigercat 80425 and  Grumman F8F 2P Bearcat 21714.

Both aircraft are owned by Steven Gray of The Fighter Collection and are based at Duxford in the UK. I took that photo on a very bright day last year at Duxford. It was very much a snap shot taken straight into the sky as they came out of a loop.

I dont yet have photos of the 190 in flight though I do have a couple on the ground.

As for the Spit V, if you let me have your email address I will forward it to you.

It's not just nice, it's absolutely great! :-)

Believe me, I've spent countless hours at airshows, laden with photo gear, and never came up with something even approaching the quality of your shot. Maybe it's just that I'm a poor photographer, but I'm impressed big time!

I hope you're just being inappropriately modest in calling that a snap shot, my self confidence is six feet under right now! ;-)

Hi Henning

Thanks for the compliments - but I am probably no different to you. There are plenty of good photographers out there and I guess we all need a piece of luck every now and then. Typically I take a few hundred shots at each show and only get about 10 I can really work with !!  Like you, I used to carry loads of stuff around but I found I couldn't really get to know any of it really well, so now I carry one body and only two lenses. That way I know what each is going to do.

I also spend a lot of time processing the photos to get them how I want. Obviously you have to have the shot to start with and there is loads of stuff out there to confuse us all but I tend to limit mself to about three or four tools - I guess it all about familiarity again. I suppose it's a bit like flying in AH, you have to learn the basics in one aircraft - I'm still learning !!!!

So keep shooting

Hey Fox.

This shot is absolutely great.

I had the honor once to prowl around Duxford with a press pass, and I got some nice ones, but nothing this good.

Still, got some rather nice ones, and I will mail to all of you if you like.
These were from the 2000 shows, - BoB anneversary and all that.

Was a heck of a show anyway.
