"No, they are accessable to the public, so that makes them a public forum, thus subject to standards of decency."

Yeah, the owners and operators standards.

haha.

The main reason she says that ( cause I'ver heard it before) is that she felt she was not as "there for me" as she could have been when I had cancer. She thinks she was trying too hard to not let it get to her emotionally  and now thinks she came off as somehow distant, which was not true at all.

Just one of those things moms think about I guess.

I know you are probably half joking, but you'd probably find that I'm one the the easiest going people around if you met me.

Did you ever make it out to Tempe?

NO, the Standards ANY Community imposes upon its members.

We can't smoke in public buildings, and that's an example of a community standard....and it doesn't matter what the building owner wants, that's the standard.

There is a responsibility of Board owners to comply with these standards- indeed, most porn sites go out of their way to warn of the content on their site and you must pledge you are of adult age to enter.

I knew I'd done the right thing by complaining about it when a 15 year old kid was the most vocal whiner once it was gone.

Incorrect. Its not the standards, its the law to not smoke in public buildings.
Which is a litle bit more then just community standards where everyone just decides "we're just not going to do this"
The Standards of a BBS are only those the owner agrees to or creates him/herself.
He removed it because he himself felt it had gotten out of hand. Not because he had to to meet anyones standards.

There are some standards you have to be responsible enough to honor (COPPA, etc)

A law is generally brought into fruition due to someone's standards and then more people adopt those standards, then more people want it to become a forced standard.

A law doesn't just pop up and go "I'm a law."

So, if all my neighbors don't like the color I paint my house and I'm NOT in a home association... I still have to paint it the color that they feel more comfortable with?

1) You never said she was your wife

2) When others made not-nice comments, I intervened.  Then you criticized when I intervened.

Clearly you can't be appeased no matter what we try to do.  And adhering to our rules is something you can not understand.  So by all means, come over here and complain.  You play the victim role nicely.
