Sportsmanship Alive and Well
« on: February 12, 2005, 04:45:20 PM »
Just got into a dogfight with a Jug and Spit south of 139.  Not sure who was who, but Buitrake was one of the pilots.

Not only was it an outstanding fight, but when I ran out of fuel and landed on the ground between the trees both pilots broke off and let me .ef

The spit and jug did a flyover at 200 and could have easily torn me up but didn't.

So, here's to you Buitrake and friend.  Honor is indeed alive and well in the MA.

I've done this on several occasions...and on a few occasions it has bitten me in the oscar

If someone is going down, I don't always "shoot to kill" unless it's in a GV.  ;)

But, there's been a couple times I've done this and the person catches back up to me and rams me.  Heck, I'm MUCH better in guns and GVs than in planes, so if I get a kill or near kill, I'm happy!  But, then someone catches back up after I break off and rams me?  Sheesh.  ;)

Now this is a subject i'm highly opionated on, I have NO RESPECT on pilots who vulch/kill other pilots who have managed to get they're damaged planes down in one piece safely on the ground,,if you cant kill me in the air then try again later.
Getting a kill like that is like robbing ur grandma! not good!!!
I dont mind getting vulched taking off,it's my bad choice, but killing ditchers is something i just dont do,it goes against my pride as being a good pilot,i dont need kills that bad:cool:

I agree with this to the point that some just ditch to avoid being shot down. They know they are beat and will intentionally take her intp the ground. I will try to shoot them. But like you said, if they are damge and ditch while in the midst of a fight I don't bother them.

Actually sawman, he did shoot you down while you were in the air.  That is initially why your plane is damaged and doesn't fly anymore, and consequentially why you had to ditch it.  I think the ditch model needs some looking at, but overall, my take is that if you are dogfighting, you get tore up and can't fly, but set it down softly, you didn't earn that ditch, that guy worked for the kill and deserves it.  That is just my opinion, but then again I have ditched a couple of times  :p

A helpless, shot up bogey trying to ditch?

Hmmmmm....

I'd a bagged you, and hoped that the guy who damaged you gets the kill you are trying to steal from him. ;)

Actually, I'd have bagged you just because it is in my lower nature to do so!  :D

Alive and well?

I had a guy in a 190 last night run from me until I was out of gas... (a rook no less) all the while talking chit. Then when I was out of gas and floating to the deck he says I'm running...
So I reup in another plane... Chase him, he runs to MY base, ack full up, gets one vulch and dies.

Alive and well? What game are you playing?

Better yet. Whats your deffinition of sportsmanship?

Also, I'd like to know why someone would come on line only to run for 25 minutes+ and get 1 kill then die to my ack...? Why?

Wouldnt MS Flight Sim be more their style?

Its one thing if you got a bag full of scalps and no ammo... But to run for the simple sake of being a tard... Where is the fun in that?

I got the entire flight on film also. Will make a nice addition to my AH Bloopers Movie... Up and Coming. ;)

It is the way to honer a good strong opponent, but normally you just shot them down.

I let some of them to land after the long fight, and had it from others, but if guy showed nothing special, HO or run instead of being agressive, try to ditch to avoid fight, I shot him down without hesitation.
