There's actually a pretty simple (and logical) rationale for going for the P-40 first.  Any plane in the air poses a threat, from the best plane to the poorest.  The more planes in the air, the greater the SA load, the more likely that someone gets "lucky," one more plane to dodge, etc.  By removing one threat, no matter how minor, the whole situation becomes a little bit easier.

So typically you'll see folks go for the best or the worst planes first.

Cool ... then I guess I will fly tonight. The bad mojo that I have been experiencing as of late has been exorcized and transferred to you.

Hope ya have fun with it ...  ;)

Good point Todd,, but I don't think most people rationalize it that way.  I wouldn't mind getting ganged as much if that was how people operated.  Most just think easy kill when they see an early war bird and go for it, then get the hell outta Dodge when they get a couple quick cherry picks.

I usually pick my targets by relative E state. A living P-40 is usually going to have a high E-state, and become a target. I also tend to presume that EVERY P-40 I see is an Ace.
