If I am flying an E fighter, I have absolutely NO problems turn fighting another E fighter. If I am flying a TnB fighter I have absolutely NO problems with E fighters NOT turning. I'll just pull a lag displacement roll on the E fighter and if I miss my shot, I'll laugh as they run away. If I dont miss my shot, I'll still laugh ;)

Btw, I still want Levi in the DA ;)

I think there is a good point behind what Elfie said.  I will usually fight these days, not just BnZ.  I find that if I go above 10K it is normally an anomally.  However, there are times where I'll engage one guy (say I'm in a tiffie) shoot him down, have a good head of speed, then have a spit come down on me about 1.0 out.  I will extend in this situation, probably to the point where I can use my E to my advantage or he loses interest.  Now, that may be a poor thing to do, but in that situation I can't seem to find ways to get back my advantage because as soon as I reverse, we are now in a turn fight and he should have me no problem.

I have been learning to keep my E better in those situations, but I'm still way far away from where I need to be..

I'm not saying, someone couldn't put 50% gas in an E-Fighter and hold their own in the odd turn fight, just that to do so under normal circumstances is usually an excercise in futility and an express trip to the tower against the pure turnfighters.

OMG !!!! not a trip to the tower !!!!! ... OH THE HORROR !!!

Forget the fact that if you push the evelope you might learn something new, at the cost of

.... it's so hard to say ... a virtual DEATH !!! ...

there I said it. Boy I feel better now.

Nothing better than taking a P-47-D25 and running into a brazen N1K co-alt co-E or an unsuspecting Spit that is typically waiting for the BnZ and then has to deal with a Jug that just turned the tables so quick that he doesn't have a chance to take a breath before 8 .50 cals slice him up into nothing more than a pile of gooey flesh.

Well not to be to harsh, but, WTF is the problem with a guy asking how to play the game?  Like it or not, scoring is a part of this game.  Scores are posted on the creator of this game's website.  Rank is listed by everyones name on the roster.  Many choose to play only to fight air to air and that is they're choice.  Some want only to be in GV's, that is they're choice.  Then some try to work on scores, either in fighter or bomber or gv.  then some like to play this game to increase rank, THAT is they're choice.  Many times, confidence can be the determining factor in the enjoyment a person gets from participating in a game/hobby.  If increasing rank gives a person confidence then more power to them.  I think it is extremely Low Class for people to trash a persons accomplishments because they deem them cheesy or "ghey".  Some of you guys are so full of you're selves it makes me laugh.  And I say to all who do this "F off" and have a nice day! :) meddog, if you want to know some tricks, I will gladly help you sir, and thanks for the inquiry!

This is rediculous. But, I can't blame them, if I was putting along in a SpitV and a Jug30 was BnZ'ing me I would really want him to get slow with me so I could have a chance to kill him, that's about the only way a slow turnfighter will get an E-FIghter in most situations. Somehow there is the misconception that anyone, regardless of plane match-up who refuses to get low and slow with a turning plane is cowardly. I contend that those in E-Fighters that maintain their discipline and advantage and refuse to get sucked in to the slow TnB plane's low-speed, tight turning radii trap are the purists.

Excellent post, Zazen13 - I agree 200%. :aok

I remember upping a P47 (D25 or D30) to go buff hunting. I had intelligence that LANC formations were attacking our HQ. I got to about 15K/20K, and sure enough - there they were. The Jug is much better at high alt than low alt, and I felt I was doing what the Jug was designed to do (although Gabreski's victims in WW2 were all 109/190/110 IIRC).

Of course, the very fact that I'd climbed above 6K would make me a dweeb in the eyes of the furballer. They would whine about their radar being knocked out, but would do nothing to defend it, except (you guessed it) whine to HTC to have the game changed.

As for "learning something" - oh puleeeze... AH2 was a huge step forward IMO, but I saw plenty of films in AH1 of planes doing impossible stuff, and making impossible (800yd+) shots. The only thing you're going to learn is how a particular game simulates RL WW2.

Our vox can get bad some nights, if someone that did know us tuned in it would sound like we all were fighting each other.

Were you around when Manx and GBaLL were still running the 4 Wing? 441 Silver Fox and 416 Linx...

Now THAT was a vox channel. 141... At times the scroll bar would be so long you wouldnt bothter to check to see who was on. You'd just yell out and see if they were there. We had way too many people on a single channel. A good 25% of them were from other squads who came to hang out with us.
It was quite fun back in those days. All winging up. All in fighters we knew best. At times there would be 25-30+ planes all working together to bring down the house. It was a horde but a well oiled one at that. And when Shawk or Manx started drinking, watermelon got WAY out of control.. Both on Chan 1 and on our own Vox. Those were some good times indeed.

And for anyone who has anythign to say about how shawk fly's. I know how he flyes. And like nwbie said. He knows his ride. The D9. And he uses its strengths... Every last bit. There is only a few people in this game who I would want to wing with and would trust to be there when I needed my wingman. Shawk is one of them.

Steve's good too. But he's just a dweeb. :D

The D-11 is even better for that. The D-11 will out turn many many planes if you bother to take a risk and slow down and get flaps out.

As I said in the previous post even E-fighters turnfighting other E-fighters is not as simple as it sounds, E-Fighters typically carry large fuel and ammoloads for a good portion of the hop. If the E-fighter you choose to turnfight has half your ammoload, lighter weapons and 1/4 your fuel-load you are screwed pretty much. For turnfighters the disparity in loadout is generally minimal, so is the impact on the fight.

For everytime that happens he pulls hard into your face and sprays Ho5 rounds getting a golden BB that knocks out your engine and wastes 20 minutes of your life you'll never get back. I'm not saying you cannot enjoy success turnfighting in E fighters against turnfighters, I'm just saying in the long run it's just not worth it usually. Better to exploit an energy advantage, hang em out to dry and pop their cherries in the E fighting style as the aircraft was designed to do.

In regards to Shawk's rank: It is my personal opinion that he works hard at it to p*ss people off. Rank-dweeb, score-potato, and all of the colorful descriptive phrases for having a low rank always get a good laugh out of him on the squad channel.

Regarding his skill, my sentiments were similar to some of those already expressed- hunstang/runner/dorka pielut/vulcher etc. I thought he was a decent pilot (high side of average) until I flew with his squad for a bit. Now, my view is very close to Morph's. I've flown with a lot of people under quite a few IDs, and Shawk is certainly one of my favorite wingmen. The idea that he just vulches and just runs is foolish and ill-formed.

As for Steve: A**hole is apparently the WoT's equivalent of 'Sir'. It appears to be a term of endearment at the very least (I hope so anyway, otherwise I may get offended  )

cheers,

Shawk is not a vulching 190 dweeb, I think some of you must have somehow confused him with pacerr.  He flies the Dora like it should be flown and I have no problem with that.  And yes, he is a great guy to have winging with you.

Maybe if Pyro adjusts the Doras FM to make it turn better than the A series I'll start giving him sh*t about how he flies.  But in the crate he inhabits now, I'm not gonna do it.

Holy Crap, A Whole thread dedicated to lil ole me.

Meddog, I can tell you almost anything you you would ever want to know on decreasing your rank. It's really not all that tough.
Usually I limit a couple runs a night (usually after things have died down a little) to either advancing or recovering from losses.
After that, it does get boring.

Steve, I'm sure I've called you an A**hole more than once, but always in a loving way:D  Heck, when I met your wife she even said you were. LOL
As for acknowleging you when you come back, I'm sure I did. But amongst the 200 others talking to you, you may have missed it.
As for a Squad Invite, Hmmmm do you really want to fly with us???? We're just a bunch of Dweebs. We'd probably just piss you off or Vice Versa. But hey, you say the word, You know I won't turn you away.

Urchin, For a Second there I almost thought you were complimenting me, Whew!! Scared the crap outta me:eek:

Elfie, Yeah Your a jerk:p  But I don't ever recall Not talking to you on purpose. As a Matter of fact I recall a rather long conversation not to long ago concerning joystick setting or something like that.

Ah and AKAK, ROFL just call him a HO and he'll whine on 200 for an hour. Never in my life have I seen someone as high on himself.
Del invited him to a Real Plane ride and he didn't even take him up on it. Whats wrong AKAK? afraid you might have to use an airsick bag in a real plane?

Beetle is Still Alive?:rofl I figured he'd been overcome by his Ego or his timidness.

As for anyone who says they never vulch? Hahahahhalololololol
Yeah right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey if you dumb enough to up a capped field. I'm definately dumb enough to shoot ya.

My wingies or squaddies, Hmm what can I say about them. Biggest bunch of keel stealin, bait using, Crap givin, Vox Hoggin dweebs I ever met. Love em all! Rule #1 in my Squad: Have Fun!
Rule#2: see Rule #1

And Lastly, Morph....I need a Hug:D

Later, SHawk
