If it is not work-safe, it does not belong on this board.  Simple.

I could be wrong here, but I always thought maybe you should mind your own business.

Some of us visit on our lunch breaks.

Some of us own our companies and still need to avoid bringing sexually explicit materials into the office, even more vitally, because if the wrong person sees it....

So, before you role out a case of the 'supposed to's, think again.

What kind of material in considered non-workplace friendly? Your work enviroments must really suck if theres someone monitoring what kind of pages you visit... I can perfectly understand if an employer says that you cant surf, but if surfing is ok why an earth would your employer care what kind of pages you visit? That's how it works here at least, it doesn't really matter if it's pron.com or HTC.com. Most employers don't really care about surfing anyway, as long as you do your job.

I'm definately not guestioning HTC policy, I'm just curious about this intardnet policing which seems to be widespread in the US.

you can actually be charged with sexual harrassment (criminally) if you have a picture of questionable material on your screen and someone walks by and sees it.

you'll get fired for that too.

every company i have been to as a contractor has a policy clearly stating that questionable or pornographic surfing is an immediatly fire-able offense.

also said companies generally monitor net usage, and give a weekly report of all sites visited to supervisors.
I don't know what to put here yet.

Mora, the restrictions exist to protect the companies from sexual harrasment claims.  Like JB73 said, plus the companies themselves can be held accountable if the case can be made that they haven't taken basic steps to ensure that this doesn't happen.

The same is true in the EU.  Are you currently in the work force?  This could affect you.  There's a study on the subject that might be of interest to you:

Yep, we had one employee here in my department that was constantly surfin the pRon sites.  He was told twice by our female manager to knock it off.  Well needless to say he no longer is employed here.  Imagine at his next job interview when asked why he left his last job "Oh I was surfin PrOn Sites all day."
  You're Hired,  NOT!!!!!

Rule of thumb,  If you would feel uncomfortable looking at it with your young teenage Daughter next to you, then maybe it shouldn't be on this BBS.
