Nixon was the best President ever!  So he taped a few episodes of "all in the family".  At least he didn't break into the George McGovern camp....... never mind.

The 453-foot, 12,000-ton submarine has a 50-torpedo payload and eight torpedo tubes. And, according to intelligence experts, it can tap undersea cables and eavesdrop on the communications passing through them.

Anybody know anything about this? I'd be interested in reading about it. I mean, really, wtf do you do? Dive down and jam some sort of probe into it? Or is it a really strong sat uplink with some banana sitting behind an NSA desk?

I dont recall the series/epsiode name...but the History Channel had a neat show about the Cold War Subs...how they secretly tapped into Russian communications via underwater taps, etc

If you can catch it on re-runs, or buy the tape/dvd from them, its pretty amazing.

When I was on USCGC Boutwell, we spent 45 days off Fairway Rock as a Seal Team "repaired" an underwater communications cable. ;)
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.
