If they want it to be true to it's namesake, they will only give it half the required ordinance, as when he was president, most all ships were at half magazines due to his budget disasters regarding the military.  Let's  not forget the work Reagan had to do to restore our military after the damage Jimmy did.

Then, use the Sub to give away things to avoid confrontation, as Jimmy did.

For the life of me I cannot understand why the Navy would allow a ship to be named after one of the worst Presidents to ever hold office.

The Virginia class isn't quite a dinosaur the way the Seawolf could be, it's designed to operate in littoral waters, a capability that makes it useful against a wide variety of threats.

It's a lot cheaper, too, made with many COTS components.

If it is equipped to replace Parche, it will pay for itself many times over.

Carter was very good to the submarine black ops guys and that's whose sub this is.  Add in the fact that he was one of Rickover's guys and it's a no brainer.

The naming is perfect, considering his submarine service.  After all, it's not like they named an airport after the guy who fired all the air traffic controllers or anything, right?

...wait

I don't think any ATCer's have new equipment named/dedicated to Ronald Reagan.

Carter was the worst president in modern history.

I don't really have a strong opinion on the name, just saw an opportunity for 'ye olde reagan intl airport vs. ATC' joke.

ATC violated their government contract.  Reagan was right to Fire all those bastards!  He even warned the dumb****s too lol

To name a Warship after Jimmy Carter is a disgrace to the ship and her crew.
