Today marks the 25th aniversary of the U.S. win over the russians in the 80s olympics. Listening to espn radio today they were asking if there has been a sport moment that had that much of an impact since that win.  Now granted their have been some amazing moments but I dont think any have or will ever have the impact that the win over the russians had. What do you guys think, have there been any moments in sports since that compare to that one.

by win over the russians, do you mean the athletes, or the team of chemists behind em?

I dont think there has been any sports moment in America that has equaled or even come close to when our Olympic hockey team beat the Soviets. That ROCKED! :)

I was playing high School hockey at the time, my junior year. Hockey was always popular at my school but after the miracle, it was THE sport.  Man those were heady days.

I do not think there has been a greater sports moment in American sports history.

I had the good fortune of meeting several of the players. I skated rat time at Bloomington Ice Gardens in Minnesota where the away teams would practice when they came into town to play the North Stars.  I used to linger afterwards and frequently got back on the ice for their warm ups and shoot arounds, til a trainer or coach tossed me.

Boroda,

Was there a similar feeling in USSR after the '72 basketball win?
