How many times have you clearly shot down a guy to watch him ditch his plane and you get nothing?

It happens to much if you run out of fuel or make it safely away then ditch ok I can understand. But if you set a guy on fir, shot off his wing, anythign that cripples his aircraft he should not land and you dont get the kill. Is this a bug or a cheap way of not gettign shot down?

It's neither. What it is, is the best compromise you are liable to get, at least for some time.

What I am trying to say is the GV approach should be used. If you tower out in a GV and an enemy con is near or the con or enemy gv that damaged you gets the kill. And if no one is around you get the ditch. That is all I am saying. If can be applied to GV's then it should very easily be applied to aircraft ditches.

Why? GV's are totally different. You dont have to risk dying to "ditch" a GV. You just hit the brakes.

From my understanding,

You can only ditch if you are on your own teritory, if you are damaged and try to ditch on enemy territory, I believe that the buffer will say "shot down".

Buy you can ditch on enemy teritory if you are undamaged.

Personaly i think AH should expand the way score are diplayed.
It should give kills, shared and damaged etc ,,,, like they did in WW2. But so it doesnt fill up the buffer still maybe only show a credit if you have 2kills.
would show: 2v 2s and 4d etc.
That would be cool.

So even if ya flew around for and hour as a rookie,, you would still get a smidget of perks for landing 5damaged planes.
you didn't get any kills but at least you shot off a few ailerons.

Actually if you are in enemy territory in an aircraft and land you get captured and not a ditch.

yes correct, it will count as a capture...
Unless you have been damaged by an enemy player,,, it will say
"XXXXX" shot you down.

My problem with ditching now is that it's pretty much impossible to die from a belly landing no matter how fast you're going, and even if you hit trees. Used to be, hitting the ground with more than about normal landing speed killed you, as did subsequently skidding into trees. But not these days. If you hit the ground at a shallow enough angle, you're guaranteed to live no matter how fast you're going, and even if you hit trees or buildings after you hit the ground.

What annoys me is that dweebs are taking advantage of this to escape death when chased back to base or when just caught at a disadvantage in friendly territory. Instead of turning to fight or slowing down to land safely, they just belly land at 350 knots and walk away, and so cheat me out of kills.

On a related issue, it also seems impossible to die from flipping a GV over these days, too. Probably the same underlying bug.

I dont know what speed you are running into trees, but every time I've slid into one, even barely moving, I died. And its not a bug. Its a setting. The reasons for it being the way it is have been stated more than once. GVs are a totally separate issue, but again its a setting and not a bug. Both have been explained and are there to read if you care to do a search.

The ditch model seems generous.

I shot up an La-7 in my B-26 and saw his engine was dead. Circle back to finish him off...just as I gained on him, I saw him nose it into the water then vanish. Not even a graceful splashdown, straigh nose in. No kill, he escapes...grrr.

Hate to drag this up, but are their plans to change the current ditch model. It's a little bit generous right now, to the point of being comical. Had three different incidents in the last week where someone slammed their aircraft into the ground at 300mph+ and slide to a stop. Only restriction seems to be that you don't actually hit something solid and that your angle at impact is shallow. Can't imagine that ditching into the water at those speeds is "survivable" regardless of how gently you touch down. Old model just seemed "better" to me.

Yesterday I dove on a lower 262 in my d40, chased him down and blew both of his wings off from 200 back at 50 ft off the water doing nearly 500 MPH, he got the ditch. All that was left was the cockpit. Generous is an optomistic word.

I think that if you ditch near an enemy con you are killed regardles sno landing on the runway I will admit Ilike the way it is to much a pain to slow a 234 down to get to land much easier to belly land it.
