Heh that's almost like the Simpons episode where the ghost of Billy the Kid convinced everyone in Springfield to destroy thier arms.

Just so he would be the only one with guns. :D

Press reports said Stevens did not have the ID card required of Illinois firearms owners.

You need to get a special ID card just to own a firearm in Illinois?  WTF?

SOB,

What do you expect from the state where a mayor can sign an agreement to maintain an airport, then order his city crews to tear up the runways in the middle of the night and then claim the airport is abandoned?

Big Al Capone would be proud.....
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

so true, here in st pete we have a downtown water front airport, the developers have been trying to close it for more than 30 years so they can build their billion dollar condos.

mmmm, can you say prime water front land.

she didn't know what to do with it, so she put it in a drawer.

How dumb can you be? Not only does she illegally possess a firearm, she stores in inappropriately as well. Whats the bet there was one in the chamber?

That's kinda sad. I lived in Tampa for 10 years and didn't even know there was an airport in St. Pete... always flew out of TIA

Yep. A FOID card. Plus, a 1-day waiting period for long guns, 3 day for pistols, limit on pistols per month. You don't register the guns but you do have to have a card on hand if you have a gun. Bunch of transport conditions to follow. Few upstate rifle ranges because of available land and the general discouragement and really crappy gun stores where milsurps are concerned (but not really related to the laws). Can't ship a firearm to another person or dealer without a FFl. Can't get ammo in Cook County without a FOID card and most internet sites wont ship to Cook County.

Then, in Cook County (where Chicago is) there are a bunch of additional regulations, and even more for Chicago itself. I live in Cook County and It's hard to keep all this crap straight, even with work to dig up the requirements. I mean, I think what I posted above is fact, but I would have to research it more to be absolutely sure exactly where, when and how they apply. You can't even buy a gun safe at a Cook County Wally Mart or SportFart because they avoid anything gun with a 10 foot pole.

FWIW, Daley has done a decent job keeping Chicago from becoming another rust belt casualty. But, on guns and Meigs Field he is a total ass.  I usually vote Republican in the state (when they aren't under indictment) to counter the Daley Democrats (when they aren't under indictment), but frankly the Republican Soccer moms and their suburban middle manager Republican husbands hate guns too, so you can't exactly count on upstate local Republicans either.

The FOID isnt really that big a deal.  At least it never used to be, but then N. Illinois is a whole different world than the southern half.  You could go to any Notary Public and get your card, they took a picture and sent the form to the State Police for a background check.  A nice laminated card would come in the mail in about a week.  Once you had that, it was easier to buy guns in Illinois than most other states.  All you had to do was show the ID and buy what you wanted.  In Missouri you have to get permission from the Sherrifs dept to buy a handgun, and you not only have to tell them what you are going to buy before they will give you a permit to buy one, you have to tell them SPECIFICALLY which gun  you are buying.  The only place I ever lived where it was easier to buy guns than Illinois was Kentucky (just need a Drivers License there).

eh, in NJ we have to have an ID to own and purchase, etc... Need a ID permit for pistol (seperate ID btw). I have over 20 firearms of different kinds, Special kinds made specifically for Deer Hunting and small game, and some types of firearms for collecting as displays. All are secured safely, in my gun safe's and gun cabinets.

I was thinking the same thing.  ALot of shootings/crime is related to drugs or gang violence wich is usually related to drugs.

If she's buying or using Illegal drugs she is contributing to what probably (and I'm guessing here) her son's death.
