go online or offline and use 5 x 500lbs and you will see that they will indeed destroy a hanger (fh, bh and vh) as long as you hit dead on.
The wording on this chart is a little misleading. The words are "destroy with", yes you can destroy a FH with 3x1000lb bombs but you only NEED 2500lbs

shows that fh's, bh's AND vh's at a field require 3k to kill, and are dead for 15min. (coulda sworn vh's were 2k)
