Author Topic: Stuka bomb fails to kill hangers (Read 529 times)

Last I heard, hanger hardness was 3000 lbs. The stuka bomb is 3960 lbs. A direct hit on a hanger didn't kill either hanger (we had directs on 2 seprate hangers) but a near miss flattened it bad.

The 1000kg bomb? 2200 pounds. 1 lb = 2.2 kg (approximately). Its not exact, but close enough for govmint work

Drop your bomb,flaps +2 turn over and sraff the hanger you just hit,a quick 3 second machinegun burst will deal the remaining damage.

if you cant deal enough damage,change to rear gunner as your flying away from your bomb/straff attack, kick over the rudder and start shootin'..that should bring it down.

U still shouldn't have to finish it with mg's since the bomb is well within the required amount to kill hanger.

Ya, that bomb has about 30% more explosive than necessary to take down a hangar, it should do the job on its own.

I have had no problems using stukas to take down the hangers at a vehicle base i always get the two hangers that are together with no problem.

I dont think the FH and the VH are set the same. It wasnt stated in the original post which type was being discussed, I assume because the focus was on the bomb. I can take out the two VH stuck together at the Vehicle bases with just 2k lbs. in the middle and 2 rockets each. I cant do that with a FH. It takes my 2k and laughs. I have to dump 6 rockets on a FH after dropping 2 of the 1k pound bombs on it to get it to explode.

Last I researched it (AH1) all hangers were 3k. Guess that changed.

These were hangers on A9 on the Baltic map. Think it's a medium field.

No, they were 2500 lbs in AH1 also.

I remember I use to regularly take 12x500lbs in B17 and pickle them at 5. Use to drop two hangers on first pass and then set salvo to 1 and drop two other misc objects on 2nd pass.

scroll 'bout 1/2 way down. there is a list of strategic targets.

shows that fh's, bh's AND vh's at a field require 3k to kill, and are dead for 15min. (coulda sworn vh's were 2k)

granted, dunno how old this info is, or if it's changed any, BUT it's right from HTC website.

Don't suppose this indestructible hangar was on P14 of the isles map, was it?

I've had no trouble dropping hangars with the 1800kg egg so far.

If you weren't too low, and you indeed had the n0Ok! on your stuka, this sounds like a bug in the settings.
