finally got it...

here's what they look like on my system:

this is on my system here:
http://home.wi.rr.com/jabostaffelhq/dxdiag.htm

this is with moniter brightness up to 2/3 contrast full / and gamma in game to 1.4 (with those moniter settings "black" is not black, but grayish

dont think they should be that dark..

that pic was taken from the raw BMP into paint shop pro, and saved with least compression to jpg, hopefully it kept most of the color quality

also that is the default "home" head position moved "up" just a tad to get the stick out of the way, but not forward or back

Sometimes a quick mouse-pan view helps.

I've set one of my stick keys to toggle mouse-pan. I use only the altimeter and speedometer during fighting and don't have much trouble in seeing them in both the P38s and the Ki84. If I get rad/oil damage and have to check temperatures or fuel status, I toggle the mouse-pan and use the mouse to check individual gauges closely, and then toggle it back off.

(Mouse-pan view also helps a lot when using AA vehicles. Toggle mouse-pan, look around the skies freely, spot target, move turret, push F1(which instantly centers view) and fire.)

im using most of them, but the 190d / 190a5 i use AERO's green one.

i did edit most of them, there was alot of noise around the edges and middle, i blacked that all out (manually LOL)

i also removed some parts, to make the middle less cluttered on some.

HiTech / Nate / Super / Pyro... should i have something set differently to get the clarity and brightness you had in the release screenshots of these new models?

Last couple of nights I've been flying the P38J. The gauges are bit hard to read so I hit my zoom button on my joystick and adjust it in a few. I can read the guages, and my viz is a bit better all around the plane subsuquently.

I do the same with the Ki84. Maybe this is why HiTech programmed a zoom button into the game????:)
