There is nothing wrong with bombing CV's from alt. That is say 7-8k and up.

Its the tards who roll in just under or over 1k who make my blood boil. Then they say how "difficult" of a job it is to sink a CV and how they should be recognized for the "great" buff pilot they are. A complete joke is more like it. And dont tell me its anything near "historical". Your just a complete tard and nothing more.

Am I Hi-jacking this thread? Nope. Big-G is obviously a newer player. Nothing against that at all. I think its great he came here and asked for advice on how to bomb a CV. I wish more new players would put in the half the effort.

Rather, they roll buffs 1 after another and die to enemy cv ack, or fighters while flying on the deck until enough of these tards get enough lucky hits on the CV to finnaly sink it. A complete waste of carbon these people are.

Again. I'm glad BigG put the effort to find out the "best" way to go about sinking a CV.

If you ask me. The best, or easiest way to sink a CV is to climb to 10-12k and level bomb it with B24, 17s or Lancs. Torps do the job also but they are much tougher to aim let alone get to target. Once you get the proper lead figured out, level bombing a CV is very easy.

Big G try this site.  I found this awhile back but never got the chance to test it out.

I can hit the torpedo shots farely well.  The problem is the snipers in the 5"ers.

The way they did it in real life was to send in torpedoes AND divebombers if they could.  This gives air cover 1 choice.  Fly high, or fly low.  Either way, they are taking it up the ***.

IMO that the ships sail too fast anyway...it's just slightly slower than our average torp can swim.

Pulling off a successful torpedo attack vs ack is one of the toughest things to do in Aces High. Doing it against manned 5" ack is virtually impossible unless you just get lucky and they don't see you.

I've seen maybe 5 people who could consistantly do a good torp run and hit the target more often than miss.

Flying VERY low (5 to 10 feet) helps, but chances are you still won't survive.

Drop your torp when you start seeing ack waterspouts all around you.

Cobra, I've tried his sight & method.
It does give you a better estimate especially regarding aiming points for diff aircraft. Its certainly worth a try for anyone wanting to spend the time.

I have taken a 110g2 into the cruiser with guns blazing and killed it 1 pass and survived.  With missing parts but survived.  I would bet 3-4 110's in 1 pass could kill a carrier with just the guns alone as 1 can take the cruiser down by itself with just guns.

How much 40mm shells would it take to destroy a cv? Because the 40mm on the PT boat can hit it, while out of defensive fire range.

Thanks for all the good advice guys, I thought it would be obvoius to the untrained newbie (such as I) that this would be the first place to come for advice, I'm off to load up the JU-88's with some torps and start training, after that I'm going to be practising on the 110 till I get that right too. Thanks Morpheus for the advice on the throttle RE: 110.
Cheers

BigG I forgot to mention to you that it would be very much to your benifit to train off line where you could "jump" the task group or CV right near a base that you want to take off from.

So that you dont have to up and fly very far to try different ways in dropping torps.

Just a thought.

It'd also be helpful if maps with airspawns were made again.

Anybody remember the old 'West Germany' map with a air spawn? That was a very useful map in practicing bombruns when AH first introduced the 'easymode-Norden' type of bombings.

If you want to use bombers, do it properly please!
The thumb rule is to lead 1 (one) carrier length for every 10k (ten thousand) feet of alt. So if you bomb from 15k which is the best alt to avoid both acks and low fighters, lead by 1.5 lengths. The norden bombsite accuracy has increased considerably after the last chages so it should be fairly easy if the CV is not turning.

With a formation of heavy buffs you have enough ord to drop in two salvos.

Yes, this actually requires a little skill, planninng of the flight path and spotters reports from friendly planes will help.

Torps attack are much harder and riskier. So they were in RL.

Frank3,

About 2 PT boats worth of 40mm will or used to do it, not sure since they hardened them.

I take it that would be in default settings, how much 40mm rounds does the thing carry?

/Hello I know all this is Tatertots fault!
Morph Why should i climb to 7plus k when 4-5 do just fine?? for level bombing cv?
I agree with other here that Ju88 with the 6 torps dropping three at a time..is often succesful against Cv and battleships....once got lucky and took a PT boat out with a topeedo..
DON"T EXPECT TO LIVE LONG AFTER DROPPING THE TORPS>>>>WONDER IS THIS ALSO A DEEB SUICIDE THING ALSO?
OH I HAVE TOO MUCH TO WORRY ABOUT ALREADY>>>I BETTER NOT OVER BURDEN MYSELF!

seriously 999..  when have you ever level bombed a cv?  of the dozens apon dozens of times I killed you not once were you trying to level bomb...   did you know many bombers have a bombsight?   you can reach it by hitting the f6 key.
