hblair/body shop owners - what could do this to this car?
« on: March 21, 2005, 05:27:49 PM »
hey,
a friend of mine came out to her car to find this... any idea of what could have done that? it definitely wasnt there yesterday

it seems really low, and there isnt any paint scratches... i would venture a guess that it would be a tow hitch for a trailer but who knows.. i dont think a snowbank would do that though

I'd say a small animal strike myself as well. I also wouldnt toss out a random person feeling the need to kick something.

Is she absolutely sure it happened today?  That could be missed easily in the rush of life.

If not, I would say someone with some type of brush guard that protudes low hit it.  This is very tricky though because there are no scratches...at all.

yeah, i dont know what would leave a dent like that without scratches. the only thing i could think of was a stainless steel trailer knob maybe

i duno if you could kick the front of a car in like that but it is pretty much foot height

i saw the car the other day and it was fine, and she didnt really go anywhere other then her commute to work this morning.. so i duno.

Basketball.

It is extremely thin metal, and a ball bouncing up from just in front of it would easily do that, it wouldnt leave any scratches, and being in an asphalt car park, in front (or back) of a condo, it wouldn't be unheard of for a few kids to be bouncing a ball around the joint.

did ya reach behind it and pop it back out ? and what kind of intra structure does it have behind it ?  steel or  plastic honeycombs  ??

ive seen some repair shops leave that stuff out or damaged after they fix those things ... depends on the cars history ..

well, i havent seen the car since it happened since i was busy today.. but her friend tried popping the panels back out and couldn't, so i suspect the actual bumper behind there might have been damaged.

she was at work when this happened apparently, so who knows

brand new car for her, and i bet thats way more then the deductable if the bumpers messed up. crappy luck for sure

Get a piece of wood and a screw jack. See if that will push it out.
