Windows XP Profile Corrupted
« on: March 31, 2005, 12:13:51 PM »
Hi Guys,

Today I booted up my box and discovered that my main XP "profile" had become corrupted and now I am being forced to use a temporary one with none of my prior settings. Any tips on restoring a corrupted profile? I can't play AH until my PC is back to normal!

on bootup, press one of the F(number) keys, can't remb which.
one of the pages should be a system recovery page.
depends on which computer you have, I think.

Didn't work, first time I've wished I had WIndows 98SE and the ability to "SCANREG" and select an old copy of the registry.

Thanks though.

Any other ideas?

Seagoon, have you tried the "system restore"if by chance you had it active,it may solve your problem, however,Microsft recommends
starting a new profile and transfering some of your settings.

YOU DA MAN!

I read this line, and literally smacked my head - oh yeah the service eating up 12% of my HDD! I restored to Monday and hey presto, I'm back in service.

Thanks!
