May I ask you 3 questions: 1)What do you drive (also state engine size)? 2)What is the fuel consumption of your vehicle? 3)What is your annual mileage?
Sorry if the SUV thing sounds worn, but it's time some people woke up to the issue of the depletion of the world's resources. I'm no saint, but no way would I buy a 10mpg gas guzzler.
America has 5% of the world's population, and 40% of the world's vehicles! I know that the distances to be driven can be high...
At at the opposite end of the Liberal/SUV bashing moral spectrum with regard to fuel usage is the guy who drives a vehicle of ridiculous proportions "because he can" or because he wants to get one up on someone else, or maybe just needs the ego boost. People like that should perhaps reconsider their driving habits - and stop whining about the price of gas.
THATS because over here in the US, we get watermelon done! We dont have lil girly 35 hour works weeks (like France), we dont take 2 months of vacation each year, we work 50-60 hour weeks till we get heart attacks and die! I looked up stats, we use 4X as much oil as the next country (Japan), BUT, our economic output per capita is by far the highest in the world, (Was looking for those stats, alas, I dont have Lexus Nexus) so at least we make judicious use of our oil (btw, I have a mid-size SUV, gets about 20mpg, a little truck..gets high 20's...and a GAS-GUZZLING, HORSEPOWER SPEWING, INEFFICIENT, HEAVY, 1967 FIREBIRD....dont drive that one too often..has a range of about 120 miles:D Also have a 1962 Harley, gets about 35 mph..) All 4 of our vehicles together prolly total up to about 15k miles per year, as I have a gas-guzzling company-issued vehicle for work.
