SCUZZY Please post the specs of your rig

Hi,

Just curious as to what the specs are of your gaming rig, mainly the vid card and memory.  I need to build a gaming rig for my little cousin, and may just sell him mine and build me another one again.

Oh yes, bragging rights for systems. IN

I always start with a trip to the local computer surplus for awesome deals for that hard to find gaming hardware

Of course some of the locals get there very early and start picking out all the good stuff

Here, I'm getting the software dialed in and haven't yet started to connect the game hardware

Next I'll plug in and set up my stick {gotta remember which buttons go to what}

Last but not least, I plug in my headphones so I can hear the roar of all the engines and guns

Most that know me,  understand that I don't usually come in here and brag, but sometimes ya gotta just say "hell I'm goin for it"

When VIA, or any other motherboard chipset maker, can make the motherboard chipsets as reliable and stable as Intel does, then I will switch.
NOTE: This automatically disqualifies VIA.

However, this is my last Intel system as well.  So someone better get busy and make a proper motherboard chipset which measures up.

I really have no reason to change right now.  The performance delta is not enough to warrant me even considering changing right now.
Of course, if I was stuck with a Intel Prescott CPU then I would be all over looking for another computer.

Intel stability on their bare bones stuff is very nice.

I'm actually getting frusterated a bit over all the junk put on motherboards now.  I don't want crappy software IDE RAID on my motherboard.  It eats addresses even if disabled and makes my good SCSI RAID card non-operable.

That said, my nForce2 board, without crappy onboard RAID,  has been 100% stable for me, even with a SCSI raid card and a basic SCSI card in it.

I won't touch VIA.  Their chipsets are absolute crap in my experience.

Oh no, I would not use an Intel made motherboard either.  That was the one AMD experience I have had Karnak.  It was nForce# and it would not run at 200Mhz.  I had to dial it back to 166Mhz.
All I got for my complaints, was, "oh yeah, some are like that.".

I agree about the junk on motherboards.  No one makes a good basic motherboard anymore.  They all pile a bunch of useless garbage on them.

Hmmm.  I'd never heard that.  All mine have opperated at the correct speed(s).  Currently I'm running a gig of DDR2100 from my last system and my CPU at 200mhz FSB.  It's not ideal, but it works and I can't afford to replace the memory.
