No, I know what's gonna happen because it happens every time this subject is brought up. Same as the Furball vrs Strat threads, same as the Pizza threads or any of about a dozen other subjects that get brought up over and over. Many of which I myself sometimes to my own detriment have been involved in

They start off ok then at some point they begin to degrade very rapidly.

In this case someone who is against night will say "well if you want night turn your gamma down" Or someone who is for it will say vise versa. Then someone invariably is going to say "Night would be ok if we had night fighters but we dont" And someone else will come back with the counter point that all planes currently have dar.
Then someone else will make the claim that HTC got rid of night because "most people logged off during night time" and "most people didn't want it" Which is untrue but it will be claimed anyway.

Then someone is going to start with the personal insults and it will go downhill even more rapidly from there.

Now just for the record I'd love nothing more then to be proven wrong this thread. And see it remain a civil and at least a semi intelligent discussion But if past history is any indication, that is very unlikely to happen.

And hey, Maybe by reading this people will actually think about it and will refrain from actually behaving like idiots if for no other reason then to prove me wrong.
I doubt it. But hey I can dream cant I?

Also for the record and for the benefit of those that dont know my views on the matter Im am for the return of night and always have been. I was against getting rid of it in the first place. Anyone who has read any of a number of threads I have debated this subject on over the last few years knows my views on it.

But the fact is Im tired of arguing about it Over and over and over again. Im tired of the bickering, name calling and other infantile antics that go on whenever subjects like this are raised.

So if you dont mind I will just sit here like an idiot, chugging my beer and watching other people start too act like idiots.
Maybe they will surprise me and prove me wrong. THAT would be a wonderful surprise.

But it would be a surprise nonetheless

How 'bout THIS idea!

Instead of bringing back night time, we have stormy weather in the "night" time slot? Once every four hours, the WHOLE arena fills up with the storm clouds from AH1! Not just a wandering cloud that circuits the playing field, but down right penalize EVERYONE for 20-30 minutes! The lower the clouds are the better!

Tell me that real WWII pilots were never socked in by weather. If you choose to fly, you take the risk.

Ooops, I guess that would be too much like night time. Damn! Oh, well.

Just make night time last a 1/2 hour. That would be short enough so you can still grab a fight in a lunch hour, or if you only on for a quick hop or two.

Not once Dred, did you voice your opinion on what should happen.

Most of the people who have high post counts don't have anything to say. They just plop down on any contreversial post and say, "Where's the popcorn?" It's like you aren't smart enough to form a rational thought or post.

Just out of curiosity why was night time removed? Would it not work with AH2??

Do a thread search on the subject. I've stated many times I was for night, and why, and how I thought it should be done so as to be fair to everyone.

I've argued/debated the point and seen it debated back and forth over and over and it almost always ends up the same place.
Hence the reasoning behind my post.

Odd. just did a thread search myself and cant find the threads I KNOW I participated in with regards to this subject.
Maybe Im just tired or they were threads that started about one subject then chenged to another.
But I know I've argued FOR night

I would like to see the return of night too.... and never wanted it to go away. Rather than messing with gamma, the best way to see at night is to turn off any lights in the room, or only have a small lamp so you can still see your keyboard to type. I actually have a keyboard that lights up so it wouldn't be a problem for me, but have never had a chance to use it yet due to no night.

The night only lasted 30 minutes anyway and the time shifted each time because the cycle was 13 hours, so I don't really understand how it could have 'always been night' when somebody logged on, unless the always happend to log on at a different time each day.

As for the ability to "grab a fight in a lunch hour", I should be so lucky! If you are talking about playing at work, as I know many do seem to, then count yourselves lucky you are able to without getting sacked! I have internet access at work, but everything goes through a central server and is heavily monitored. I can't even access the forums from work, nevermind download and play Aces High. Even instant messaging is disallowed, as I found after accessing ICQ via their website for a short while a couple of years ago - my employers blocked the site and complained to my boss.

Anyway, bring back the night.... it doesn't last long and the time of night shifts by 2 hours every 26 hours.

not having night time to play in occasionaly is like not having the occasional day of blizzard when you're snowboarding.

sure, you cant do your best for the short time the blizzard is blowing, but a few hours later, when hell has calmed down, the piste is fresh and beautifull, the powder is soft and virgin.

if you were fishing for a hobby, wouldnt you get bored if everyday you caught a 30lb carp and swigged beer in the blistering sunshine day in, day out?

if you were a race car driver, wouldn't you get fed up if your rivals never spun off just infront of you because there was a light shower of rain just before race time?

if you were a mechanic, wouldnt it suck if every car you lookd at was in perfct order and needed no hard work?

if you were a pilot, wouldnt it suck if every day you flew there was perfect clear skies and visibility for hundreds of miles?

.....er....yes thats the circle complete.

Bring back the night time.
