The RC M26 Pershing so far.
« on: May 02, 2005, 11:38:39 PM »
So I got the tank and radio thursday. I had a poker game friday, so I started it saterday.

The kit is great, the instructions are pretty good.

It starts with some skale details then moves on to the road wheels and suspension.

There are some very repetitive steps, like putting together each road wheel. Each wheel has 7 parts lol.

Getting the suspension arms in place was a pain,  but once together it looks like this.

Each road wheel is on a tortion bar and sprung,  it is pretty cool.

The gear boxes and final drives, all metal.

The electronics after I gave it a test. All works well, and it even makes the main gun noise and machine gun noise without them hooked up.

I would have had more pics but the cams batterie is going out.

Edit, sorry about the pic size lol.

Lookin Good!

Don't forget to get rid of those goofy "tamiya/kyosho" washing machine plugs on the motor controller!

I have an R/C Tank that shoots airsoft pellets reasonably hard. I got one of those mini wireless cameras taped to the barrel. It's a great party toy, sit on the couch and drive around shooting people in the ass.

Tanks are fun!

Bodhi
Those are the kit plastic ones with metal pins. I have metal treads, but they are atleast 3 times heavier.

I have not put them on yet, do you all think the added weight will hurt it? Or run down the battery faster?

The Kit was 590, the radio a little over 100, and Hangtime hooked me for around 200 for the batteries and charger.

Plus 150 for the metal treads.

I used mine to explore under my house:

I want to build a tank for my son to drive, and my father-in-law and I have been throwing around the idea of building a gas powered one person tank.  He's got the engines, transmissions, and welding experience, and I've got the glass cockpit, drive by wire skills.

No just the lower hull, and drivetrain.

I have the upper hull and turret with all the little tiny scale details to go with it.

Plus I think I want to cut off the stock front part of the fenders and make more realistic brass ones so they will bend and look like a real tanks lol.

I will prolly finish this weekend, doing it after work is a pain.

I have a question, if you look at the very bad picture of the gear boxes, notice there is no grease.

The sealed final drives have grease. But it does not say anywere in the directions to oil or grease those gears you can see.

No my exsperiance with cars leads me to be very leary of runnying anything that has metal to metal contact like that without some kind of lube. Should I grease them with Plastic safe grease or leave them be?
