Set up for May 6: Russian Front
« on: May 04, 2005, 02:27:54 PM »
This will be a (nearly) pure Russian-vs-German set up.  Set up was designed for balance, and not necessarily to accurately portray an exact time period.

Terrain: Baltic Map
Radar: CT standard
Downtimes: Ack/radar/fuel/ammo/troops 30 minutes; hangers 15 min; town 45 min
Capture Requirement: 20 troops.

Plane Set:

Russian (Bishop) –
La-5, Yak-9T, P-40E (lend-lease, and besides, I like it:D), Boston-III, A-20, IL-2, C-47, all the M-s, T-34.

Germany (Knights) –
109F, 109G-2, 190A-5, 190F-8, 110G-2, Ju57, Ju88, C-47, all the M-s, Pnzr-IV, Tiger (limited bases).

Notes:

I’ll include PT boats where there are nearby waterways that support them.  I'll only have about a half dozen bases on each side with a/c or vehicles available.  All other bases will be long to the Rooks (neutral), and have nothing available except ground guns available to anyone.  Capture them if you wish (but not the last two, as it will reset and pork the arena), but be advised that the only good it will do is for landing and refuel/re-arming.

Doh! I meant the Stuka.  As for the 190A-8, I thought about putting it in, but thought it would be too much for the Russian planes to handle.  I'm willing to listen to any reasonable arguments to the contrary, however.

Pfffft.  Right.  The Yak is far more dangerous than a La-5.  The La-5 driver has 3 opportunities.  One for a HO attepmt.  One to cherry pick someone else as he runs away from the missed HO.  And one to kiss his butt goodbye if the 109 catches him before he can get back to his buddies or the ack.

La5 pwns everything in the LW set. Not everyone runs with it. :)

The A-5 is clearly superior to the A-8 in flight performance, and the 110G-2 has better guns, but I dont see any reason to leave the A-8 out if the LW guys want it.

actually I was going to suggest (at the risk of derision from the ackllieds) to add the G6 for a better speed balance.  this seems to be a '43 set up and the G6 was a 1943 aircraft.  if you wanted to the A8 could also be shoe horned in.  we have nothing that will catch the La5 in your currently planned set up so it would be another week of chasing ackllieds.  that's why I didn't play this week at all, I'm tired of running after fights all the time.

A-8 could well be in or out depending on the time frame but 109G-6 was on the Eastern front already before the first LA-5FNs so it should be in the set IMO. It arrived to the units in the early '43.

109G-2 is faster than the G-6 Storch, its only a few MPH but its faster. If you want a speedier plane the F-8/A-8 is the next fastest LW plane after the D-9, and the F-8 is already in there. I dont care one way or the other, just saying...
