That movie was such a glossed over version it is almost a dishonor to those guys.

They were hampered at every step by top military leadership and when they did not fail miserably from the very beginning they were issued the bottom of the barrel planes to go to war in.

They got top of the line Mustangs only after we had so many produced there could not be any possible justification for denying them.

I believe that the attempts by military and civilian authorities to prove them unfit or inferior bordered on criminal.

Those guys were and are heros to their race and ours and have mostly been forgotten by both.

When did they put this thing in here and WTF is it for?

Its sad how the US was fighting a war against the nazi regime yet they themselves where acting this way to a group of guys who just wanted to fight the best they can for their own country, wich hated them.

I hate racism. I consider racist people to be pretty stupid and intellectually challenged. I have never met a racist person who was nearly as smart as I am. LOL they always make fools of themselves, poor tards.

In 50 years racism in the US will be in the history books. Things change for the better in this case

Think about it, now we can finally pick on the Euros and their stinky lil' union

Tac, take off the rose colored glasses! Before you make a remark like that you should travel to some of the pig trails and see how the world really works. I see bigotry and racism everyday. Sadly, I don't have to travel far to see it.

Sometime, when we're online ask me what happened to Nolan Richardson's horse.

I didnt watch the movie, just a special about them and what they went through..the most interesting thing I saw was how they talked about the saying that "they never lost a bomber"  the truth was that they never lost a bomber TO A FIGHTER, they lost many to FLAK but of course there wasnt anything they could do about it.  The thing i found most interesting was their tactic for escort, they wouldent chase fighters at all, insted they sould just kinds head them off and as soon as they started bugging out the ran back to the bombers, that way the bombers alwasy had escort VERY intellegent move IMO, some people called them cowards for never chasing down NME fighters but that wasnt their job, protecting the bombers was, and they did DAMN good job of that.

Ha! Tac.

"lil Union"? As much economic power as the US, possibly larger population - the world will be a much better place once it gets up and running.

Just think, US + EU - we can sort out the world once and for all!

We just have a few cultural differences to iron out - as long as we avoid a civil war, I don't care how it's done.

332nd, not 442nd. :-)
The first squadron was the 99th, and they fought in North Africa until two more squadrons were trained and shipped overseas to form the 332nd. Then they were given escort duties.
Amazing history, Red Tails Black Wings is a good book about them. Written by John B. Holway.
