I've no problem with them arresting him, I'm sure he broke some law. If that's the will of the community, then it's fine by me. I simpy object the publishing of an arrest record.

 back at ya.

It is a matter of public record, Mora.  It is only dangerous when the government makes arrest records secret.

Ding Ding Ding!

He was arrested in PUBLIC, by a PUBLIC official, convicted in a PUBLIC forum, served time in a PUBLIC facility all paid for by the PUBLIC. Why should any of it be private? I would be very fearful of private police making private arrests with private sentencing to a private facility.

out of all those (all good) this is a really good point i didn't think of.

i paid for that SOB to sit in jail, i paid the guy that aressted him, i paid the guy that fingerprinted him, i paid the balif who escorted him to court, i paid the judge, i paid the guards at the prison, i paid the construction workers that built the prison, i paid for his food in prison, and i have paid for many other parts of just his legal issues not mentioned.

i want to know where and how my taxpayer money is being spent.
I don't know what to put here yet.

You sound like a bitter old man. If you are so concerned about how your money is spend, then why arrest this person in the first place? And why setup a trial  for him with your money? You are not saving money if 1/10 or something like that of population is sitting in a prison. Especially when your crimerate is what it is, despite of that..

My point wasn't about the money, it was about the public versus private nature of his police record and the angle you were taking. While I am not exactly happy that taxpayers have shelled out thousands of dollars on this human derilect I beleive it was JB73 who expresses major concern over the dollars. I myself would rather him be in jail than wandering out in traffic in his drunken state. I might hit him and mess up my paint/sheetmetal, I seriously doubt he has insurance!

Sorry, about the confusion, been drinking..  Anyway, I doubt the reason to set up this service was the freedom of the suspect or the public, and it wasn't mandated by the law.

Optimized for IE, Firefox works with glitches.

In California we call this a "homeless" person and encourage his behavior.

Beware of the cultural clash :)

Perhaps in the US (well certainly :) ) it's right and legal to publish the record of a criminal.
But in some countries like mine it's seen as an attack in his basic right ,illegal and finally wrong.

have you recently missed your period?  ;)

Mora,

Also we have what's called the "freedom of information act"  This makes it so the public has access to govt records to help hold the govt accountable for its actions.  It's got it's ups and downs.

The guy is homeless and most likely has a mental condition. Cheaper to throw him in jail and ignore the problem than it is to treat him.

Nils, get a Snickers Ice Cream Bar if they are available there. They hit the spot.;)
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.
Stay thirsty my friends.
