I just read about it, and Japp is Mars (or as Mars was in 1949)


A guy at Freia candy factory in Norway asked a soldier named Forest Mars who also happened to own (i think) Mars Confections Ltd. if they could produce the mars bar on license here. Forest answered: “Norway that little brave nation, can have it free and forever!”

And that is the history of Japp. No idea why they came up with that name but it was all i could find on Freias homepage.

After closer inspection, I think it's more like a Milky Way or 3 Musketeers. Milk chocolate, cocoa merengue (nugat) and caramel.

Still, does not hold a candle to a Snickers Ice Cream Bar.
