The title and subtitle say it all:
The China Study by T. Colin Campbell (BenBella Books, 2005)
The Most Comprehensive Study of Nutrition Ever Conducted and the Startling Implications for Diet, Weight Loss and Long-term Health.
On P. 243 is a fascinating chart called Eat All You Want (While Getting Lots of Variety) of Any Whole, Unrefined Plant-Based Food.
He basically asserts many diseases can be prevented, alleviated, or reduced by following a plant-based diet and eliminating most animal-based food.
He includes a couple charts showing that the third leading cause of death in the United States in 2000 was Medical Care (!), with 225,400 people dying from the following: medication errors (7,400), unnecessary surgery (12,000), other preventable errors in hospitals (20,000), hospital borne infections (80,000), and adverse drug effects (106,000).
I checked a copy out from the library to read it. Now I'm going to buy a copy. Fascinating insights into a 40-year career including high levels of government and professional intricacies.
