Why is the spitfire's pilot views so limited in moving around inside the cockpit?

try moving the view forward as far as possible on the spit (literally like an inch) compared with the 109 series like the G-10.

Smells like poop! ;)

I read an article about how a spit pilot should dress... They were so wrapped in layer upon layer of clothing and when in the spit cockpit their shoudlers touched both sides. They were literally barely able to move.

Sounds about right. You can only move your neck a little forward if the rest of you is pinned in place.

actually, saw a bit on the Military channel where they put a german 109 pilot in a spit, and a brit spit pilot in a 109, just to see their reactions.

One thing I recall is how cramped the 109 was to the brit, and how spacious the spit seemed to the german.

Both the spit and 109 cockpits were cramped, especially when compared to the spaciousness of cockpits in american a/c

This thread is about relative head movement spitfire compared to other cramped cockpit aircraft like the 109.

Hey Furball:
Woik wit me heah! ;)  I posted in reaction to the comments made by Krusty re: clothing spit pilots had to wear, thereby creating cramped conditions in the cockpit, and then Lute wrote about some show he saw where the spit and 109 pilots reacted to the space in their respective a/c, hence my comments. Neither posts had much to do with your original statements about head movements except to maybe offer up a possible explanation as to why you are having the problems you are having in this less than real flite sim.
Merely offering some background, comparatively speaking. Hell, it prolly doesn't have anything to do with RL cockpit space at all. ;)
It's prolly some bug rearing it's ugly head to make yer life miserable :D

well...i think when your strapped in there is not a whole of movement no matter what plane your in. maybe you could unstrap yourself and go flying around inside the cockpit?

Although the peter pan flying all over the place idea does appeal to me - there is no need for the smartarse comment as i am making a valid point.

Both of these taken from default position, and then view fully moved forward using arrow key with no zoom.

109G-10

Spitfire V

Spot the difference?

Now, i am not saying that this is a bug, i would just like to know why there is such a vast difference here.
