gixer... you don't hate Americans.... just hate the way we are?   Does that make sense to anyone else in NZ?   I don't hate sport bikes I just hate the way they sound and the way they look and cant stand seeing em.   I would hate them less if they were all banned.

no, I don't have any laser sights..  I am old fasioned..  it is not impossibel that one would find it's way into my gun safe tho for one reason or another.   I am weak and can't pass up good deals.

Just bought a nazi marked 98k that I have no use for but hey... it was cheap and it was nazi marked.

straffo... our country is very big.   Any conflict between the government and the people could go either way depending on the support for either side.  If the government get's heavy handed they would lose the support of the troops and the people... if the anti government forces get heavy handed they would not gain the support of the people and the troops.

Either way...  American have a healthy distrust of their government.. it takes very little for us to get angry with them.   If we are not armed we pose a much smaller threat to them doing whatever they want.

It is in any citizens best interest to be armed if their government is.   The historical truth is that anyone who trusts their government with arms is a fool.   History has shown that governments are the major killers of citizens of their own country... they are the ones who cause massacres on the huge scales.

Well in your hypothesis only the governement is evil but you just need 50%+1 of the vote to have an evil country.

In this case it will be very difficult to fight such dictature.

I didn't say that we have an evil country or that we would knowingly vote in an evil tyranny.   I am saying that government tends to run toward tyranny and massacering its citizens and that it is allways wise to be viggilant so that you have the best government possible.

Even if 95% of the people voted in what appeared to be the best person possible... that is not to say that he would be what we thought... that is also not to say that 1 year later his popularity wouldn't be down to say 5%.

That $1400  price I quoted is for a stainless/synthetic Mini14 in NZ dollars. The differance in price between here and the US comes about because of the currency exchange rate differance between the two dollars. The importation costs add a large whack to the price as well.

I would much rather pay your prices than ours. $1400NZ would probably have a similar buying power in NZ than what $1400US would have in the US.

Things are very much the same here lazs. Some of my guns don't see the light of day much either except when relatives who usualy bring a friend or two come visiting. Mostly shooting newbies, but they really get into it. The oil on my black rifles would be a smokey vapour within minutes. No beverage, paint can or ballon is safe. Occasionly when cattle would wander across the firing range I would have to remind one or two of them that bullets don't bend around steers but we always have fun. And even though I do a little paper punching from time to time, for sheer enjoyment it's hard to beat informal plinking type shooting.

ah yeah... newbies and informal plinking..  Plinking is my favorite pastime too.   Love to just say "that white thing next to the bush about 50 yards out" and see if one of us can make it move with a 44 mag or 45 auto.

Tell ya what the mini 14 does real well in that respect... loads of fun..  very little recoil and absolutely dead reliable sooo... fill a 30 round mag and pick out something 50-100 yards away... hold the mini 14 at the hip and start walking the rounds into the target..  the mini sorta "rocks" instead of recoil and you get a rythme going and it is surprisingly easy to get on and hold on the target.

My ex really anhilitated a 2'x2' wooden pallet that was about 60 yards out one time that way.   The 223 round has enough suds to make a really easy to see bullet strike and when it hits the pallet it tears it up and throws pieces everywhere..

Does it get better than that?

green... that looks fun but not as fun as just shooting at junk from all kinds of unknown and varying distances.

The last thing I shot at was a length of white 4" PVC pipe with handguns... it broke up into various sizes and scatered on the hilside... we would nust pick a chuk and try to turn it into smaller chunks....Now that.... is "reactive".

lazs i agree..soemwhat...as i get older i get more sensitive..

The range off ogf Beale AFB  soemtimes gets really trashy.. Everyone wants to bring there crap there to shoot at it....For the few that bring..TV.s Beer bottles..PVC pipping...microwaves..babys toys..ect ect..It looks like crap..and makes gun owbers fufill the typical left wing linguine spinned ...sayings that we just trash the earth blah blah..

SO!!>.to try and combat this..I do not leave trash out there anymore..

Steel Silloutte targtes..placed at varying distances...Hell they dont all have to be fancy spinners..Just plane round Steel cirlces are good..

I also have learned..Old Tortillas..Left out will harden up..Kind of liek shooting clay pigeons....Old Fruit..Lettuce heads...ect ..any old food if you hav eany..works dam good

The other I saw for the firts tiemlast week..This guy had about 20-30 milk-water jugs..Plastic ones..Filled with water..WOW!!!..when ypu hit them with a l;arge caliber ..they really explode nicely...the guy said..If you have the time ..Freeze them..and they explode even bettr...the good thing is they are fairly easy to pick up ..mostly intack..just split..

AND!!..dam..they sell theis gel now..it explodes when it gets hit..Soem gun shop in Yuba City carries it...Soemone had soem at the range last time..nothn bettr then exploding targts...she said it was legal too...Hell sounds good to me

At one informal range I used to go to we would go there with pickups and shovels and rakes and clean it all up once in a while and haul everything to the dump.

I would be more than glad to do that with anyone in the area that has a shooting spot that is trashed.   You could do that at the base.

White PVC disintegrates eventually... if it is broken up into small bits it goes even faster... there are millions of miles of the stuff buried in the U.S.

Frozen gallon jugs are fun.. A 44 mag pretty much destroys one in one shot tho.   I like clay pidgeons... you can even get ones with seed in em.   the new "splatter" bulseye targets are more fun than regular paper ones too.

A guy could make a fortune with an outdoor range that was a bunch of berms at varying distances and "junk" scattered around.
