Supersize Me.
« on: May 28, 2005, 12:45:53 PM »
My wife and I watched this movie last night.  We’re not into fast-food, eating out or pigging out and are kids eat pretty healthy foods. “Supersize Me”, however, still made us think about what we eat and what it does to our bodies.  I highly recommend watching it even if you think that you are not at risk; the facts and statistics were amazing.  I’d like to see this become a standards film for high school health/P.E. classes.

Hi Eskimo.

I watched that movie, and it made me feel ill. I couldn't watch it a second time! I've only been to McDonalds 2-3 times in my entire life. My mother always used to say that she never worried about what I ate because I naturally liked to eat things that were good.

And though we sometimes poke fun at "fat Americans" during Euro/US bashing threads, I actually feel concerned for those compulsive eaters who find themselves surrounded by fattening food which is cheap and available 24/7 and cannot stop themselves from pigging out.

America certainly has become the blubber Mecca of the world, but the problem is quickly becoming international.

Good post Eskimo

In the last 5 years I have been going back to the land of my Grandfather (Hu), and in that time frame i have seen the American fast food industry slowly creep into Central Europe.

Although I haven't see the movie you mention, I can only imagine the content.  We as Americans are pathetically over-weight as a country.

We live to much on convenience. Were as most Europeans don't even own a microwave. All food for the days meal are bought fresh and prepared the same day.

Had a bet with a friend that was going to Central Europe, if he could take 5 pictures of 5 fat women in Europe he'd win the bet. (advised him not to sneak to Wal-mart and take pics here) Anway, he coildn't do it, as a matter of fact he was shocked to how "well" ppl look compared to how ppl look here in the states.

I guess give it time, McD's will ruin another countries health.

I've never understood why people like McDonalds,KFC etc. Always thought it's the most tasteless, processed muck you can buy. Even as a kid I never liked it.

It's not tasteless at all.  Heck it's engineered to be some of the best tasting "food" around.
