I just got this cause it came with the space expansion pack(mmm clubbing RR spacebabyseals), and it was cheap, and the free month will tide me over until I move out of my wifes house and get my own place so I can play AH2 again, anyway . Install it, go to create new account, only to find out the bastages are selling the CD without the CD key, and the cd key that came with the expansion pack is invalid. This is just to say wish more online game companys were like HTC, and had account and billing problems sorted soon after I mailed them instead of no response. Plus you dont have to pay 28 bucks to have AH2 beer coasters.

Wait until you actually spend time playing the game =P Since the entire economy is player made, every item is unique. This leads to horrendous amounts of lag, especially entering player cities. You spend more time loading than you do playing. On top of that, there's no economic consistency across servers. Some have out of control inflation that makes it harder on newbies w/o connections. The graphics are several generations behind (it's the Everquest 1 engine), and the cockpit textures are only marginally better than X-Wing vs Tie-Fighter.

well joy not only what I spent my cash on is useless, its useless crap. Thats why i quit Anarchy Online was player city causing lag. Guild Wars is amusing  but seeing chicks in chainmail and swords whacking babyseals gets old after a bit as well. Thinking that my 28 bucks was better spent on beer and doner kebobs insted.

Hmmm...looks like you play on a crappy system.  Player created items do not cause lag, never had and never will.  Yes, there is lag in some of the major NPC cities but that is usually do to the amount of player's spamming their products.  Load times take a long time?  Again, that usually depends on your system and quality connection.  It only takes me on average to 15 seconds (If I'm loading into my house or a player city) and maybe 30 seconds if I load into a NPC city like Coronet.

And for the graphics, where did you pull that from?  SWG uses the same graphics engine as EQ2 does, albeit the engine did get some fine tuning for EQ2, which by the way was incorperated into the latest expansion.  Go to Kashyyyk and see for yourself.

As for the economic disparity between the servers, that's what you'll get when you use a real time economy system for your game.

And space looks quite nice, I think only Eve Online can compare to the sheer beauty of space.

Anyway, have fun in WoW and tell Leroy I said "Hello".

Blame LucasArts for that.  They released a large shipment of the boxed games with invalid CD-keys and ontop of releasing the game to stores ealier than they said they would.  LucasArts messed up the same way when the JTL expansion came out.  They gave retail stores a whole load of invalid keys for the pre-order.

Athlon 64 3200+, 1g of cas2 memory, raptor 10k rpm hd, 6800 GT, sb audigy 2 gamer... nah, no bottlenecks on my PC. I can play Doom3 very, very smoothly in full detail. Not many can do that :)

I thought it was lag, but the result was the same across 4 different servers. Then I checked my wireless NIC and changed over to wired 10/100. Tried everything under the sun I could think of, because I really did want to play, but it was not to be. Still laggy & choppy unless in a very remote region, far far away from player cities. It's not the route to SOE, because other SOE games have worked just fine... even Planetside which is notorious for laggy zergs. The load times themselves were fast hopping into an area, but waiting for everything to magically appear and being frozen while waiting... that just sucked horribly. It made PK totally out of the question, which is why I play these games anyways.

Then the EQ2 engine is crap too :) Unless you prefer the bland EP4-6 starwars (before digital re-touching)... in which case it about looks right.

Kashyyyk is cool, but looks pretty pathetic put side by side with World of Warcraft.

Yeah, I know... but is it a good thing? I don't think so looking from the perspective of a new player. I couldn't tell if it took into account inflation when paying out player missions, but it doesn't look like it.

The space looked nice, but the cockpit textures were crap. They really could've & should've done alot better. To me, the newer cockpits in AH are 10x better at least.

...Eve Online is awesome. Unless you don't have alot of friends in 0.0 space, then it's a pretty, but very mundane grind for money :)

Dunno what server good ol' Leroy is on, but since he's on the Alliance, and everybody in my house is Horde, I wouldn't even be allowed to say hello unless I found his character somehow in game. :)

I was in the SWG beta and played it for almost a year after it went live.  Indy it's a new engine, and EQ2 borrowed the engine.  EQ1's engine couldn't handle what they've got going in SWG.

I got fed up with it when they finally did the Jedi revamp, and in playing with a Jedi on the test server I realized that no matter how I picked skills for my Jedi on the live server, after the revamp I'd never achieve the power my character had at that moment, only 2/3 of the way to master.

Was actually thinkin on sellin my account before the revamp hit, but got caught up moving and haven't messed with it.

Jedi should have stayed in the NPC sphere of the game.  THere was a lot of content, a TON of content for players to immerse themselves in but the Jedi and force powers nixed the other 90% of the game, for me.

I played on and off for about a year.  I was a smuggler/pistoleer.  Eventually i got fed up waiting to be able to do any actual smuggling et al.  Oh and the fact half of the tree in smuggling was useless too.

Still got it on monday and no response. Nice racket they got going there. Get money from customers and its all profit. I dont mind giving money to HTC cause in my opinion they earn it, and AH brings me amusement. But the fact knowing that Fatneck has 28 bucks of my hard earned cash for nothing, then converting it into a roll of silver dollars and is at this very second in time, buggering himself with it and screaming "may the force be with you Jar-Jar" makes me mad.

as far as the graphics go, being an old time UO player from beta the MMROPG world has come a long way.

That's no doubt. Beta UO was a trip, but nowadays it's like comparing Doom to Quake III. The funny part is though looking at alot of the game mechanics. I remember being a guinea pig when Raph was using LegendMUD as the testbed for concepts like PKOK, PKE, playing without killing, & skilltrees. He's beaten me with a nerf bat for 10 years now... bastard.
