It will be more reliable, cheaper and perform better. I havent decided on the name yet, how does Kaminov sounds? It has a nice strong sound to it!

Laz firing Kimber .45
Good old Soviet weapon.

Kidding aside, I had a good time. Big .44 is a pleasure to shoot, easy point and click design. Kimberly(sp?) .45 is too big for my hands to comfortably hold it, but accurate never the less. A mini .357 handgun is a concealed monster with the worst recoil / kick I ever faced. My hand still hurts after firing only 5 rounds. Thanks Laz for allowing lowly commi to play around with your toys. :aok

It screws up a good thread.  How many times in one thread do you need to see the same picture?

So what's the Russki doing with a large revolver and no hearing muffs?

Can he still hear me typing? :)

He wasn't shooting it.  I had electronic muffs so could keep mine on.  He didn't.  He listening to me and the gun was unloaded at the time.  He was just getting the feel of it at the time.

I do wish I had take a picture of him shooting the 340 PD.

For those who don't know..  this is a 12 ounce (bout like a cell phone) J frame (tiny) Smith and Wesson 5 shot revolver in .357 magnum.

This should be the gun for all concealed carry permit holders...  If you carried this thing it would be a sure bet that you would try everything else before you were forced to shoot someone.

To his credit... he barely even wimpered till a about the 3rd round and by then the damn gun had drawn a crowd.  He realized that weeping openly while wearing camo and in front of Americans was probly not a good image builder.

the other fun thing was that we went in a good old USA muscle car..

It surely will be more reliable, cheaper and perform better only if it will have a built-in D-81 125mm, or at least a 30mm 2A42 automatic.

Sorry to say it, but our "designers" who made Lada VAZ-2110 should go and kill themselves. It will be an act of pure humanism.

It seems to me that people who designed a newest Volga model already did so.

OTOH - people who come to US from Russia and have to rent a car usually say that back here they fell like their Lada model 8 or 9 is a sport car compared to chevys they rented.

torque..  that range is about 5 miles from my house.

greencloud... the range is not very new.. in fact.. it is quite old  but the members keep it in fair shape.

boroda... I will be glad to race any lada you can come up with.   I don't think a rental chevy is exactly representitive of American performance cars.

Do you get to choose color yet on lada's?

I understand it...

BTW, you now talk to a person who doesn't have a driver's license and can't drive a car at all. With our public transportation system it's easier to ride metro (subway, underground, tube) and "vote" for a cab/taxi/privateer. Subway trains don't get into traffic jams :)

Lada 8 and 9 models were decent cars back in the 80s, but now they are... hmm...

They still make "classic" Ladas here, clones of Fiat-124, "best Euro small car of 1967". The only good thing about it is that it's as simple and easy-to-repair as a Kalashnikov, you can fix almost anything with a hammer, plyers and some help of ebony mother.

The choice of colours makes me vomit.

If I'll ever get a driver's license - I'll buy a used foreign car. But my Father wants to get a free car, he's a veteran (78 now) and can get a new Oka for free every 3 years IIRC from Moscow city government. Oka is another technical marvel, imagine something like a small suitcase with 4 wheels and a 2-cylinder engine... Almost an Oka-11, it's called VAZ-1111 "Oka". Father's driving experience ended in 1963 when he got into a crash in a rented Moskvich (not his fault), so I'll have to drive that "furious stool" ( ) myself...

boroda... I had some interesting conversation with russian.   Like you he really doesn't know much about cars tho.  He does own one here but..

As for the fiat 124... saying that it is robust and built like anything russian is....

an insult to anything russian.   the fiat is one of the worst cars every built... rivaled only by french cars for being crap..  Any American kid could turn one into an urepairable scrap heap in a week.

We talked about public transportation and car ownership and availability of used cars and variety (choice)  and price...  Loving cars as I do... the russian way of doing cars leaves me less than thrilled.

As for performance.. russian versions of things often lack what I call "performance"  the Ural motorcycle is a copy of the BMW..  it is a 750 that the russians copied in 1946 and developed on their own... it is robust and cheap but...  It is sadly lacking in "performance" by any measure of the word except dependability.
