Perk the B-24! And bring the Malcolm hood to the P-51B!

The B-24 really needs to have a perk assigned to it.  Firepower, bomb load, speed, durability - nothing can match it.  Its made base defense in 190s a joke.

Oh, and bring the Malcolm hood to the P-51B! (Or otherwise introduce a P-51C model).

B-24s seem to be exceptionally durable, yet they are no more durable than the Lancaster.

Here's what I did. I went offline and practiced killing the B-24 drone, attacking from various angles. I found that a short burst is enough to bring one down if you put the rounds where they count most.

Aim for the wing between either inboard engine and the fuselage. This is almost certain to start a fuel fire. Once it's burning you need only wait for the explosion.

Another area is the cockpit. 50% of the time, a good hit on the cockpit blows up the Liberator.

When possible I like to attack from directly above.

I find the b24 to be the easiest do bring down of all the bombers.   IMO it sets on fire more often than the rest.

Guys... you do not need to obliterate the B-24...

hope you dodge the bullets, get close and open fire between inboard enging and the fuselage. then all you have to do is wait till  the fire consumes the wing.

A P-51C with Malcolm Hood and the -7 engine (worse up high than the -5 engine in the current AH P-51B but more suitable for the MA) would be quite nice indeed.

As for the B24, they do seem to have a engine fire vulnerability as pointed out above .  Follow any advice of Widewing; he has much experience, and anything he says should be taken like it came from the burning bush.  :aok

Midway through the production run of the P-51B/C series, the engine was changed from the V-1650-5 to the V-1650-7.  This engine wasn't quite as good up high, but gave better power at low to mid levels which is why it would be more suited to AH.

I would ask for a P-51C as opposed to a later-model P-51B because it would be needlessly confusing to have two different P-51B's in AH.  However, such would not be without precedent, as we have several Fw-190A's and several Me-109G's.  The current model of P-51B we have is the P-51B-5-NA; a -15 would be considerably more capable in the low-alt environment of the MA.

B 24's were quite durable ... and the handled very well for a bomber .

(ive got a B-24 pilot up the street from my work and i'm always hitting him up for stories )
