Thanks for the input Drediock. That's why I "released" the film earlier than the deadline so I could get some input in both the raw filmmaking aspect so I could improve as well as input on the commercial.
There have been no
complaints about the commercial and I see that as a big positive. I don't expect to win and sadly because I'm on dialup I have a difficult time downloading large files with the limited amount of time I spend online.
I agree that the script could be improved, but in order to get everything into the commercial (as pyro warned in the announcement) you'll need to be fast and furious.
I took the line they said which was along the lines of "a concept and knowledge of WWII history" and ran with it. Everyone watching Discovery Wings (military channel) and the History Channel knows what a P-51 is and what it did. I wanted to get the people thinking about the game in their minds because if a commercial makes someone think...then it's done it's job. They'll teach you that in an advertising class

Anyway...I do wish I could have put more into it but the only way to cover the whole aspect of the game is to come up with a high intensity workout which was exactly what I didn't like about the "where can you?!" commercial.
I chose to go a slower route while showing a few points of detail. The very detailed landing gear retraction/gear doors (giving the viewer a moment to imagine himself controlling a real P-51) or the landing on a carrier which looks remarkably like the real thing allowing to think back to newsreels they'd seen. The flyby of the paratroopers over 'st mere egliese' or any one of a number of places that random town may have been (i think it was A5 in the TA lol!) and the 262 shots including an approach to landing.
Give the person a few seconds to watch and become immersed in the commercial and I think the number of 'hooksets,' if I may be permitted a simile of the trolling mentality of our BBs, and people who will log into the website and learn all they need to know or all that I didn't cover with the commercial.
The biggest thing I was worried about was my video editing skills (or lack thereof!)
Again...thanks to everyone who gave input over the last month and hopefully I'll be able to contribute AH music videos in the future!
