eBay nightmares

Any of you guys ever had a completely disasterous transaction on eBay? Got a feeling I got myself into one of them and I've already had one before. You'd think this service would get safer over time, but nope.

Bought from a new seller (0 feedback). Haven't heard a single thing from them since the auction ended on the 17th. Tried emailing him and got no reply and he had no other items listed. Maybe I'm just being paranoid but it seems like a problem waiting to happen.

I wouldn't worry about it yet.  Just read up on the rules and be ready to act when you need to.  I've had more than one seller be dead silent in email (no shipping confirmation, no response to inquiries, etc), but still send the item in a reasonable time frame.  Some people are just retarded...I call those people eBay sellers. ;)

Bought book, emailed her the day and asked if I could upgrade to a faster shipping method. Did not hear, anything next day I paid by paypall, and email and asked for shipping info with tracking number.

Ebay seller finaly gets back to me with a rude, you wont have it yet I have not shipped it. (two days), Course thats not what I asked. SO I emaled back and said ok what is the tracking number?

She replies there is none because I shipped US mail. 7 bucks for a magazine size book and it goes US mail?

It did indeed go us mail and I got it like two weeks later. There were some emails in between were I asked nicely if she had shipped and she basicaly called me an bellybutton for bothering her.

So I waited 29 days and gave her a terrible feedback, saying I expected revenge feedback from her.

She did not give me bad feedback but lied through her teeth in her little rebuttal comment.

You didn't even send money, it's only been four days...  and this is already a NIGHTMARE?

Wow, if you were a girl, I bet you'd be seriously high maintenance.

Everything I sell on ebay (well 99% of items) I ship through USPS, but also I include delivery confrimation (their version of a tracking number).  Havent had one problem yet except for morons who cannot read.

Question the first: Why freakout at 4 days?
Question the second: The guy has 0 feedback, you presumably did your risk assessment before bidding, right?

Because with most (at least that I have dealt with) sellers you'll get an email back when you email them asking the status of your item. I've already done that and got nothing in reply. Generally I don't worry about 0 feedback unless it is caused by negative feedback or there was a recent ID change. His is a new account. The only other problem I ever had on eBay was with a seller who had 1100 positive feedback and was a power seller. Goes to show ya how much feedback can mean sometimes.

AdmRose,

I've only ever had two problems with Ebay transactions.

The first was with a buyer who thought that the brand name of a teapot I was selling "Victoriaware" indicated that it was a Victorian teapot (even though I put "almost new - hardly ever used" in the ad and it sold for under $30) and when she received the teapot she posted snitty feedback saying essentially "This is not the like new condition 100 year old teapot I thought I scored for peanuts." I've often thought ebay needs to add "rolleyes" as a response option after that.

The second was a DVD player I bought in "non-working, as-is" condition in order to get parts for my own DVD player of the same brand. When I received it, the "DVD player" turned out  to be "non-working" because it was just the case and the power supply. Well, yup, that's not gonna play a DVD, you betcha.

Aside from that, I've had a generally good experience with Ebay, in fact, much better than many other retail experiences.
