A couple of questions.
« on: June 25, 2005, 07:50:21 PM »
Does my landing gear automaticaly go up, if not, then how do I put it on and how do I take it off for when I want to land.
Also, how do I increase speed and decrease?

the "G" on your keyboard works the landing gear. If you are taking off on "auto-take off, the gear will lift by itself as long as you haven't touched your controller. As soon as you move your controller, even a little, it goes to manual.

Your joystick should have a throttle, if not I'm sure there are keyboard keys that do that, I don't know which ones, I use my joystick.

If you click on "Help" on the main page of
Aces High, everything you need to know about the game to get started is there :)

Welcome AH2!!! :)

Mouse users who have a wheel in the center for scrolling can use it for throttle. In fact, I think it already defaults to it for new folks.
Once you ave the engine run up you can hit the P key on your keyboard for additional, though sometimes short lived, boost.
P = War Emergency Power (WEP).

G = gear up and down (toggles) If you leave it up and get too fast it will depart the plane. Suggest you get it up by 150 knots and don't drop it until you're back down to 150 again .

Flaps are Q and W keys.

If the plane tries to turn left on takeoff roll it is due to torque from the engines prop. You can maintain directional control by using a = rudder left, s = rudder center and d = rudder right.

Remember these are prop jobs so point nose up houses get smaller. Point nose up more, houses get bigger.

Hope this helps and drop into the training area. We'll help you get setup.

Thank you. I use a mouse and keyboard. I wish I had a joystick. :(

One thing I want to know now is, what do the flaps do? I notice I have you press Q 3 times in some planes before the flaps are 100% off. Do I have them 100% off when flying, then when I go to land I put them on?

Flaps provide increased lift at slower speeds (normally for landing and in some dogfights). They automatically go up as your speed increases. They will not go down until you slow to their flap extend speed. As far as those speeds are concerned, all planes are different so it's easier just to get the plane level and cut the throttle to idle as the plane slows just hit the flaps and they will go down. Each time they go down a notch the plane will slow more. Continue to slow until you have the flaps down and gear extended. Gear should be extended at 150 mph or less. Continue your approach at 100-110 mph as you descend to the runway. When you come over the end of the runway cut the throttle more and let her slow to 80-90 while easing the nose up. Continue to cut the throttle and she will slow to a gentle 3 point landing .

Hope this helps.
