Skuzzy WTH is "OT".

Sandy is right this is a thread about heat.  Besides it's not the heat at all.  It was a brisk 101 degrees today but maybe 10-15% humidity it felt really nice.

Of course all this is going to change when I move to San Antonio.

I live in NH and I have a window AC I put in sometime in May and take out in September. Its a big mutha, and handles the downstairs fine. Its worth its weight in gold when its hot.

lol Skuzzster, when was it ever that hot with that much humidity? That's almost impossible, I thought. I'm thinking you guys are around 98-105 with about 40% humidity on the worst days.....could be wrong, but that's what I recall.

Here, we get the humid monsoon from june-sept, and it's pretty darn hot and humid.

I'm now working outside again, and today it was around 113 with maybe 12% humidity. That's pretty rough when working in it. It's funny how fast a body can adjust to the heat though. Took me about 5 days and I'm pretty good now as long as I drink enough water.

Nilsen, best thing is a fan and a spray bottle to mist your face and neck, imo.

Nuke,

You obviously haven't been in Houston, Corpus Christi, most anywhere in Florida or South Carolina. Arizona just can't compete and I've been in Arizona summers for a long time.

Actually I have been to all of those places, exept SC in the summer. Been all over Florida and most of Texas.

No way was it ever 110 and 70%. I do admit, Florida and Houston heat can feel worse than Arizona heat, but it depends on the temp and humidity.

Florida would be 89 and 90% humidity and it felt awefull. But 118 feels just as bad when you are in the sun.

PS we don't have AC at my house either even though it does get in the triple diget temps regularly during the summer.

WE have the great invention of a "swamp cooler"  (google it)

It works every were it's not humid and it only drops the temp 20 degrees on a good day.

It is pretty normal to have 80-85% humidity here, with sunny skies.  The actual temperature rarely exceeds 90 but it feels alot hotter.

lol..I actually know what that is...thanks to my recent visit to New Mexico.  I heard about these mysterious "swamp coolers" on the local news on TV and had to ask what the heck they were from someone else at the conference.

That's just downright nasty.  It's 80° here, and I've had the AC pumpin' out the cool breezes all day.

or "evaporative" coolers to the social elites ;)

I actually like them when it's not too hot or humid ( say, 95 with low humidity) The neat thing about them is that they push out a tremendous volume of cool air and they require very little energy compaired to the AC.

I drink plenty of water, wear a hat, sunglasses, and take my time doing stuff. Getting in a hurry just makes me get hotter quicker than I can cool myself.

Yup,

It just really sucks when it's a humid day and you just happen to be at a place that ONLY has them and not A/C.

In addition, I work in a air craft mait. shop that has 3 of them to cool our bay.  The thing I hate the worst from them is the fact that they rust the hell out of our tools so we have to do ALOT of scrubbin and brushin to prep for inspections.\

BTW anyone else know what skuzzy is saying when he says "OT"

Is it "on topic"?

Here in Michigan the humidity is sickening at times.

I played Football for 5 hours in Mexico back in 1990.  It was 120 degrees and arid, I lost 20 pounds in a month.  I miss that weather.
