Of course even FCTCLANT is gone, split between Training support center Hampton Roads and the Center for Surface Combat Systems in Dahlgren, VA(my office is CSCS)..boy I just love the  "regionalization" crap. But since our HQ is out of town all our minor  admin goes through TSC HR..and TSC owns the building..It's like answering to 2 chain of commands once you get past the DIVO level. In a nutshell the good shore duty at Dam Neck is gone. I'm ready to go back to sea again.

Don't ya just love "competency aligned organization"? ;)

I just noticed that Damn Neck was a annex to Oceana. This wasn't the case when I was there. Anyway... if Oceana goes away, does this mean that Damn Neck goes also? I can't imagine that the Navy could get by with just one FCTC.

do you remember the layout? Which one is "a" School and which part of the big building is Taylor Hall?

When I was there, the bulk of our school was south of the barracks.

We didn't spend a lot of time in the buildings next to the beach. We did some mock-ups and then NTDS training in the newer buildings, but that was it.

I don't remember which one is Taylor Hall.

Keep in mind, I was only there for seventeen weeks. I was a PACFLT guy. ;)

I'm gonna be a PACFLT guy soon...up to start "negotiating" orders in November..gonna try fpr Pearl Harbor. I'd settle for San Diegio or Everett/Bremerton area. Sick of the LANTFLT.

Unless you went here in the 50's..building 127 which is Gallery/Taylor?hopper Halls has been here since the 60's..Walker Hall which is the OS "A" school I think was built in like 85...I went here in '93

Pearl isn't any friendlier to squids than VA Beach. ;)

What ports nowadays?

The only sure thing during my cruises was that we would hit Subic Bay.

...but I did manage to get to Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Korea, Thailand, Australia, Maldives, and Kenya.

FWIW, Australia is the only one worth going to. ;)

Oh! I've slipped through swirling clouds of dust, a few feet from the dirt.
I've flown the Intruder low enough to make my bottom hurt.
I've SRTC'd the desert, hills and valley, mountains, too.
Frolicked in the trees, where only flying squirrels flew.
Chased the frightened cows along, disturbed the ram and ewe,
and done a hundred other things, that you'd only care to do.
I've smacked the tiny sparrow, bluebird, robin, all the rest.
I've injested baby eagles, simply sucked them from their nest.
I've streaked through total darkness, just the other guy and me,
and spent the night in terror of things I could not see.
I've turned my eyes to heaven, as I sweated through the flight,
put out my tired hand and touched The Master Caution Light.

Intruders Forever!!!
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!
