As far as cable modem goes....I've had one for the past 5-6 years. They should be paying to bring it to you, including installation within your home. Not you. That's part of the thier business. Talk with them. Imho it's the best
I would have to disagree. Before I got into my current line of work 1 1/2 yrs ago, I worked for Cox Communications as a field technician.
Cox, and every other utility for that matter, is only responsible to the 'D-Mark' on the side of your house. In some cases, the 'drop' (line from house to pedistal) is your responsibilty as well. In certain sales promotions, Cox would include the installation of additional outlets inside your home. Activation of existing outlets is part of the deal though. If its not there to activate, they most likely will charge you to put it there. When I was there, an outlet install was 50 clams. If I had to get in the attic and drop the line through an interior wall and fish it out, that was an extra 30 clams. Like I said, alot of promotions included the installation of new outlets but don't presume it's their responsiblity. If you moved and just transfered your service, I would doubt you could get any sort of freebie. Your not a new customer so they arent offering you anything for free. I would do it yourself, it's quite easy. Well maybe not with a broken ankle.
As far as isolating the line for HSI. This should be done for you during installation. Policy requires for the HSI to be the first stop from the D-Mark for the signal. I usually used a 2 place splitter that would allow no signal loss for the HSI then send the signal to the Tv's with slight loss. HSI is very finicky though. Too much signal is bad. The range is small and it was our job to land that signal strength within the range for optimal results for the customer.
Not to stick up for the evil cable comany, just wanted to throw in my 2 cents.
Get well soon, I need another plane on my 6.
