This article reports that China can and will use nukes against the U.S. over Taiwan?!?!?

Taiwan has never been so safe from attack. The good old MAD system is protecting it.

GW strikes me as the kind of President who wouldn't hesitate to push the button. I just don't have any confidence that he would think very long and hard about it, or that he would listen to many others who have.

Perhaps the real question is WWCD (What Would Cheney Do)?

China is a serious threat, do not think for a second that they are'nt. I would not be surprised in the least if they let loose a nuke over Taiwan.
The only good thing that could ever come out of a war with China is WalMart would go out of buisness overnight.

All China would have to do to bring down the USA, would be to close its borders for the US companies and companies working for the US firms.

China? Nuke the US.. their biggest paycheck evar? LOL!

China is being run by guys who are quite happy with the status quo.. why nuke us when in 30 years they'll just own us outright?

The US? Threaten to go to the Nuclear mat over Taiwan? With a formal US policy that calls for One China and stresses that peaceful reapprochment is the only accpetable means for reunification? Fact is, the US would regard hostile action towards Taiwan as a 'matter of grave concern'.

Folks.. a 'clue' here.. The loss of South Vietnam was a 'matter of grave concern'. How on earth could anybody get 'we'll nuke yer goofy little butts back into the stone age if you invade Taiwan' outta 'matter of grave concern'?

More likely, we'd move into the Straights with a coupla carrier groups like we did during the last crisis and make it clear that we'd up our F-16 and and F-15 deliveries to Taiwan if they didn't go back to 'playing nice' with their rebelious democratic province.

Damn.. you guys are reading too many Tom Clancy franchise novels.

The Chinese won't attack the US.. would piss off too many customers.

They're communists, in which the people only really needs a place to live and food.

Especially when it comes to the USA.. somehow I doubt they're going to make their country dependable of it.

Besides the USA isn't rest of the world besides China, there are other countries whos with to continue business.
