My 3 week old stick spikes :(
« on: July 15, 2005, 12:57:03 AM »
Im so mad man. I spent to much time trying to save money for the darn stick, and now it is 3 weeks and its already spiking. Its a cyborg evo, I dont fly it hard.  Ive been tryign to baby this stick to the fullest knowing that if i mess it up its the one i have to stick with for a for atleast a couple of months. I bought it online with paypal, and I dont know how to return. I really dont want to ship this stick all the way back to newegg in New jersey. Ive tried everything I raised my deadband to the fullest and dampining still spikes then when i raised low it looked hopefully, but then again it started spiking in a few minutes. Heres is the pic any way to fix :(.

have you tried to go to the joystick properties in the windows system folder and recalibrating the stick?

You have to install the advanced user program... then you should have a calibrate program show.  Your stick has a 1 year manufactors guarantee
if you bought it at a store such as best buy, circuit city etc...  take it back and exchange it! . :)

Not a bad idea to spend $8.00 for 2 year extended warranty.  then your covered!!!!!  it messes up with in that time frame, return it , get replacement.  go fly, so on and so on.... :)

Sometime they suck right outa the box,  still better then loctech!

3 weeks take it back.  I've returned several over the past 1 or so
years.  :(

jetb - if it's only 3 weeks old, take it back and get it replaced. I've got an evo and it's smooth - best low $ stick I've ever had, actually (although I still miss my old fighter stick).

For years I tried all kinds of sticks just because they were on the shelf in stores and cheap. IMO, there is no better stick than ch pro. Its extremely precise in the middle.  The flightstick is only $90 and well worth it.  For years and years many have been saying it, CH pro. That many people can't be wrong.

NewEgg has been very good with me.  You won't have a problem sending it back but don't wait any longer, call them right away, or email.
Easy in-game again.

To return this I would have to print a page. Which I do not have a working printer. Then i would have to pay for shipping, Wait a few days without ah cause of no stick. Then wait 2-3 days for it to procsses. Then wait for it to be shipped back to me a new one. I dont have the money for this. Im just gonna have to stick to this spiking stick till i can round up enough money to buy one from bestbuy. I will never ever buy a joystick again offline...:(

I've also (heard, dont know this first hand) CH will send buttons and the like to fix your own stick if it breaks down the line.

FYI  besy buy (im pretty sure ,99% sure on all this) sale CH sticks online, BUT  you can return them at store if you have problems with it while its under warranty,  they send it in for repairs too if after 30 day refund policy,.... cant beat that,  shipping cost not refunded if your getting money back is all, still  better then, other online purchases as far as returns if prob occure....................... ...fair price too!  online will tell you all this ifluff'n ya'all wana conferm it!

Jetb, did you actually install the Saitek software??  Uninstall that crap and just plug the stick in.  Heck, not only should you uninstall the software, your registry entries are probably screwed up too.  Do a registry clean after uninstalling the software and make sure every trace of their hack crap is gone off your hard drive.  Then plug the stick in, and when windows looks for a driver direct it to the CD.  It will only install the drivers.  Then you can calibrate it in Windows.  Make sure you delete the video8.cfg folder in AH before starting the game, then recalibrate the stick in AH.  Use damper to clean up any spiking.

Then save your money for a nice CH stick, and toss that Evo in the closet for emergency backup (and I do mean emergency only).

I'd rather fly with a mouse than use an Evo or anything from Logicrap again.  But if you have to use them, dont ever use the control software.  It will cause more problems than it helps.  AH is very easy to setup sticks in with their interface, there is absolutely no reason to use joystick company software.  I've yet to see one that didnt cause problems for someone.

The best thing you've done yet that I've read. Newegg is a dream to deal with. Call them up, explain your situation and ask them if they would please give you a new stick on return. I know for a fact that the turn around time with newegg is more than fast. They're the best when it comes to getting a part to my door when they say they will.

Why screw around any longer? The more time you waste the more likely newegg is going to say you waited too long. Call them today and tell them your situation.

Go to Best buy or Circuit City, buy a new one. Stick the old one in the Box, and return it. You can do the whole thing in a few hours with no real cash outlay. The store will send it back to the manufacturer for credit so the only one that loses is the manufacturer.... and they should.
