After 2/3 years not driving my dear beetle,  4 new sparks a fuse and a new battery did the job.

I love the sound the smell and the people that always look when i come around.
Its not a muscle car but its got an atraction that is unsurpassed .
:aok

Im just a dweeb i wouldnt trade it for a ferrari.
although i could use the money of a sold one.

I have my bug for more than 10 years now
my goal is to become the longest owner since my car is from 73´ that´s gonna take some time still.

You mean the 'racket & stench'.

Suggestion.. if you enjoy the odd looks from the people install a skate key on the engine lid... like they did on this:

If they only had air conditioning in them they'd be great in the Southwest.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN

Some of them had AC. It was great for melting pistons and cylinders.
I shudder everytime I see one of those things. I remember rolling up under these little gems when it was so cold polars bears were by the fire to adjust the valves. Go to the next one, adjust the valves. Go to the next one, adjust the valves......on and on. Oil change, points and frigging VALVES. Then the great thrill of getting the can opener out to remove the little wheezing rubber band factories because they had melted the pistons.
GAG.

Friend has built VWs for 20 years; fastest were having 2,3 liter "strokers" with about 200hp.
Guy in our club also had one with Porsche's 6cyl and 5-speed.

Well it was nice to pass Volvos and Saabs in highway ~150kmh on speedo and show 3 fingers (3:rd gear).

Newer "03"s (panorama wind screen) were quite nice to drive; big disk brakes, rack & pinion steering, better (not pendulum) IRS transaxle and McPhersons in front.
One thing I like in "Käfers" is how sturdy the car is; friend has one from '64 and even after 40 years the doors open and close like in Mercedes... I wonder if any modern car is even running after 40 years.

The model is nice.

But ....
-No engine in the back.
-no aircooled engine
-no rearwheel drive.
-no porsche design :)

It is just an another feeling laying a whole year under ur car to restaurate it or just buy a brand new car.

true love is with the old beetle
im sorry i dont wave to new beetles.
they dont belong to the group

but..
It is ok its a volkwagen and the look is nice retro.
And having a real one can give some troubles it is never finished and always needs some work.
I hate rust.

The beetle is synonym for the succes of germany after the war.

I love shooting wabble planes but that german car stole my heart.

germany can be proud on it .

best thing about those cars were they were dirt cheap to work on and most shops could put an engine in one during your lunch hour..

Worst thing about em was that there needed to be so many shops around to put an engine in em during your lunch hour...

That and the fact that they were death traps.

Yup, excellent cars. Except for crappy heaters (around here anyway) they are reliable great cars with more charm than any other car of their era.
