Fighters helping BUFF's phbbbbt

Having spent a good deal of time both flying and attacking buffs I can say with some authority buffs don't need alot of help. This is especially true if the pilot has some gunnery ability. The only time a buff pilot is truly vulnerable is during the 10 seconds he is 'in the pipe' over target.

dedalos,

actually, during an AH2 scenarios we, luftwaffe, saw some escorting fighters running away from our 205s, 109s and 190s to find cover between B-17 combat boxes ....  ;)

If you want to lend a hand, then grab a fighter and clear my 6. Us "jocks" don't want bombers to come in and save us, we want to fight red planes. We don't want to take the base, we want the base to remain up so the bad guys can keep coming and we can keep fighting. This is (and always will be) the problem. Furballers want to fight and forget about the land grab, so when we see one of our bombers headin into enemy airfields, we aren't happy. By the same token, land grabbers want fighter support, all hangers down, etc to make base capture easier. The 2 are totally different and depending on which you prefer, you're right and the rest are either mindless furballers or toolshed heros. That's never gonna change so if you want to save yourself some aggrivation just accept it and move along.
