I am proud to say I am BlueJ's uncle.
I was there an hour and a half after he arrived in this world and was also honored to be named his god father. Because we live half a state apart I have never been able to be as close as I would really like over the years but I have watched as he has grown into a very responsible and mature young man regardless of the troubles of life that have been thrown in his path.
I started in the old AW days and progressed to AH. I introduced BlueJ to AH and its community in the hopes that if not actual face time then we could spend some AH fly time together. It seemed to make sense what with our commonality of interest in war and history. That originally lasted about 2 weeks before he had learned more than I had in a year. He was off and running and I was working on more gray hairs.
I have not served in the military, have a decent job a wife and 3 kids. When he told me he had enlisted there was a few seconds of reflection on my part, but only a few. The committment and sacrifice he and as well as all others make to join the military and support this country of ours is something that is not appreciated and congratulated enough.
No doubt you will have some bumps in the road. You will learn, sometimes the hard way, as all others have. I think you will also develop a unique bond with others in this country who have been proud to serve both past and present. You will do well I'm certain.
BlueJ
